SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a main power source 5 which supplies electric power to each part of an apparatus main body, a solar battery 3, and a condary battery 6 which is charged by the main power source 5 or solar battery 3 and a control means (CPU 4, control circuit 9) which performs control for stopping the operation of the main power source 5 in energy-saving mode and supplying electric power to each of the parts of the apparatus main body by the condary battery 6, the image forming apparatus is further equipped with a power source threshold detecting means (power source threshold detecting circuit 7) which monitors the power feed state of the condary battery 6; and the control means cuts off the path for supplying the electric power from the condary battery 6 to each of the parts of the apparatus main body when the power source threshold detecting means detects the voltage across the condary battery 6 dropping below a certain threshold in the energy-saving mode.
