Title | Song of Mylf | ||||||
短篇儿童故事 This most famous of Whitman’s works was one of the original twelve pieces in the 1855 first edition of Leaves of Grass. Song of Mylf is a sprawling combination of biography, rmon, and poetic meditation. This poem did not take on the title Song of Mylf until the 1881 edition. As Walt Whitman, the specific individual, melts away into the abstract “Mylf”,the poem explores the possibilities for communication between individuals. From a blade of “curling grass”the poet es into the mystery of death and birth and concludes that “the smallest sprout shows there is really no death”,and that “all goes onward and outward, nothing collaps”. The “I”,prent everywhere in life, leaves one with the impression of a divine omniscience beholding nature and man alike. It’s only natural that “I am deathless,” “职业生涯规划设计书I exist as I am,”雪白的反义词 and “One world is aware and that is mylf, ” and the whole poem ends on an extremely transcendental note: “I am large, I contain multitudes.” From the Song of Mylf, we can find some significant details. In the sixth ction of the poem, A child asks the narrator “What is the grass?” and the narrator is forced to explore his own u of symbolism and his inability to break things down to esntial principles. The bunches of grass in the child’s hands become a symbol of the regeneration in nature. But they also signify a common material that links disparate people all over the United States together: grass, the ultimate symbol of democracy, grass everywhere. Whitman extols the ideals of equality and democracy and celebrates the dignity, the lf-reliant spirit and the joy of the common man. Song of mylf reveals a world of equality, without rank and hierarchy. 字数:321 | |||||||
