The hydrogen removal unit 11 is configured so that a plurality of modules 20A including cells in each of which the reaction material pieces are stored in a container that can be permeated by the gas and which are coupled together in a direction of the permeation, is arranged in a direction in which the gas pass through the modules and flows from the intake part 14 to the exhaust part 16, and that an expansion absorption region absorbing expansion if the reaction material pieces expand is provided on the cells.
