1. INTRODUCTION
The Infra-View Boiler/Furnace Thermometer is a remote infrared temperature nsor designed to passively monitor the amount of thermal energy emitted from CO2 gas in a boiler or furnace. 2. GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS

All instruments are carefully packed to protect them from damage in shipment. Upon receipt, the packa
ge should be visually inspected for any signs of damage in transit. Any noticeable damage should be immediately reported to the carrier.
Verify that the model number is correct and that all accessories ordered are included in the shipment.
3. INSTALLATION
The Infra-View Infrared Boiler/Furnace Thermometer is shipped completely asmbled with a combination instrument and protective cooling jacket. The protective jacket is equipped with a 2” X 1-1/2”, 150 lb. reducing flange. See Figure 3. Standard installation is for customer to install a 2” schedule 40 nipple between six (6) and eighteen (18) inches in length welded or screwed to a 2”, 150 lb. mating flange. If a nipple longer than eighteen (18) inches is desired, consult with JNT prior to installation. The nipple with the 2” 150 lb. flange should be welded onto the boiler obrvation door, sootblower port or other suitable location prior to installation of the Infra-View protective jacket.

The Infra-View Infrared Boiler/Furnace Thermometer is shipped with a non-asbestos insulating spacer cured to the flange. In the finished installation, the automatic draining air filter must be in a vertical position with the drain valve facing down to operate properly.
4. COOLING/AIR PURGE REQUIREMENTS
All Infra-View Infrared Thermometers are preasmbled at the factory with an auto-drain air filter, air cooler and all ho interconnections required to make this instrument as reliable and maintenance free as possible. The auto-drain air filter is ud as the final method of cleaning and drying the compresd air immediately prior to entering the cooling jacket. This air filter will not remove oil in the compresd air.
Plant air of at least 15 CFM (.42 M3/min) and 70-90 PSI (10-13KPa) must be connected to the ¼” NPT female inlet on the air filter or if the Infra-View Valve was also ordered, connected to the ¼” NPT female inlet on the valve actuator. This unit provides sufficient purge air for most requirements, however, if ash build-up becomes a problem, additional purge air may be introduced by removing the ½” plug in the wye and connecting a parate source of compresd air to this fitting.

5. NFRA-VIEW VALVE
The optional Infra-View pneumatically actuated, full ported, line of sight valve requires a minimum air pressure of 60 PSI (8.6KPa) to fully open the valve and maintain it in the open position. Once open, the valve consumes no additional air.
6. ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS
There are veral different wiring methods depending upon what accessories, if any, have been ordered with this unit. Refer to the drawings at the end of this manual for the appropriate hookup.

6.2 ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE
•Mount the nsor as far away as possible from potential sources of electrical interference such as motorized equipment producing large step load changes.•Ensure the shield wire in the nsor cable is earth grounded.
7. OPERATION
The Infra-View Infrared Thermometer is a sophisticated thermal transducer utilizing modern digital logic circuitry. A thin film thermopile detector along with a spectral filter is ud as the infrared nsor. A simple lens designed to transmit infrared energy is ud to focus the energy onto the detector. Special baffling techniques are ud to avoid any stray radiation from sources both inside and outside the nsor. Besides the optics and infrared detectors, an ambient temperature nsor is ud to detect varying ambient conditions.
The Infra-View Infrared detector and ambient nsor signals are summed; the signals are then modified by the panel ttings and fed to a comparator. They are then
digitized to a 12-bit level. An EPROM is ud to linearize the signal. The 12-bit signal is then fed to a digital-to-analog converter followed by a sample and hold circuit and an output amplifier.
8. INFRARED SENSOR
The infrared nsor provides a 4-20 milliamp linear current output. The calibrated signals may be interfaced to any controller, data logger, indicator I/O, etc., requiring a 4-20 mA, 2 wire linear current output.
9. CONTROLS
The Infra-View nsor has the following adjustments that can be performed remotely for system maintenance and customization over the two-wire loop using the HART®industrial protocol. The HART signals combine simultaneous digital communication over the standard 4 – 20 mA output cable anywhere in the loop. By utilizing the Infra-View programming software and RS232 adapter the following maintenance and customization features can be modified while the units are on line. Contact your local reprentative or JNT Technical Services regarding Infra-View modifications.
A) Condition signal by adjusting averaging up to 55 conds.
B) Adjust peak (high) valley (low) hold up to ten (10) minute intervals.
C) Program alarm t point (with third wire).
D) Vary temperature range for any low/high tpoint between 250°F - 3000°F
(120°C - 1650°C).
9.1 TEMPERATURE RANGE
The Infra-View nsor is pret with a temperature range of 250°F to 3000°F (120°C - 1650°C). Other temperature ranges, including tho in Celsius are available. Plea consult factory for assistance.
9.2 EMISSIVITY SETTING
All Infra-View Boiler/Furnace Thermometers are pret at the factory with the proper emissivity tting for nsing gas temperatures and should not be modified.
9.3 PEAK HOLD
For some applications a slower respon to increasing/decreasing temperature is desirable. The peak hold adjustment enables the nsor to respond quickly to high temperature, and then decay slowly.
