2.0SCOPE
2.1This procedure applies to all factories in Asia currently supplying Finished Goods
to Char-Broil.
2.2This procedure applies to any products developed by CB New Product
Development Teams (NPDT) and produced by factories in Asia.
2.3This procedure is applicable to the following conditions, but not limited to:
2.3.1New design models / concepts
2.3.2Existing models that are moved to a different manufacturing location.

4.0RESPONSIBILITIES
4.1Product Engineering – Asia Operations – Lead Organization for Engineering Pilot:
4.1.1Assign Engineering Pilot responsibilities by Manager, Product
Engineering - Asia Operations.
4.1.2Conduct engineering pilot and provide report to CB – NPDT, Factory
Supplier and Operations Team – Asia Operations for review via PDM
Link.
4.2Operations, Asia Operations
4.2.1Perform or arrange to have performed the required product transit test and
provide test report / results upon completion.
4.3Joint Responsibilities – Product Engineering & Operations – Asia Operations
4.3.1Product Engineering and Operations Team – Asia Operations and Factory /
Supplier to determine understanding of critical relationship of process
required to manufacture product.
4.3.2Review supplier metrology reports from off tool parts.

4.4.1To provide Product Engineering – Asia Operations with documentation
(drawings) referencing completed tooling / process plan relating to the
model being reviewed.
4.4.2To conduct internal review of model and provide comments to Product
Engineering – Asia Operations and US NPDT.
4.4.3For all off tool components complete metrology reports and provide First
Piece Inspection (FPI) documentation to Product Engineering – Asia
Operations and Operations Team – Asia Operations.
4.4.4To have available off tool parts and components needed to build ven to
ten units.
4.4.5Complete final prototype model prior to EP.
4.5Product Data System
4.5.1To complete the product BOM’s and any revisions prior to the Production
Pilot Run.
4.5.2Complete the product instruction manual prior to EP.
4.5.3Relea component prints and model files prior to and in support of initial
production.

4.6.1Product Description Statement (PDS)
4.6.2Product Specification Document (PSD)
4.6.3Complete Pro E 3-D files (when applicable).
4.6.4Review and provide comments regarding Prototype Models
4.6.5Complete Product Workmanship Standards and Criteria for Rejection.
5.0Procedure
5.1All parts for engineering pilot should be 100% manufactured off final tooling.
5.2Review supplier’s metrology reports and check critical dimensions of the parts per
drawing.
5.3Verify the material, material thickness, and surface finishing of the parts.
5.4Randomly lect parts to asmble all units per the Instruction Manual.
5.5Check fit and function of the asmbled units.
5.6Compare ALL artwork to required standards, including, but not limited to the
following:
5.6.1Graphic and carton art; POP; carton, rating and warning labels.
5.6.2Instruction Manuals
5.7Note any discrepancies between the Product Specification, BOM, Instruction
Manual and unit on EP Report Form.
5.8Compare units to CFR / Workmanship Standards.
5.9Perform functional test. (U as consumer would)
5.10Review final packaging and make any recommendations.
