Abstract
Nowadays, against the backdrop of growing economic and trade globalization, the communication between countries is more frequent than before. English has become an important tool of communication around the world. Politeness, as a symbol of civilization, has been playing a significant role in the cross-cultural communication. There are many scholars who have related and analyzed this issue. American sociologist Erving Goffman has put forward the “Face behavior theory”, then in 1987, Brown and Levinson discusd the politeness in a positive way and a negative way firstly. After that , English linguist Geoffery Leech summed up his politeness principles from the perspective of pragmatics. Foreign academies were busy making their own explanation on the thesis of politeness, at the same time our domestic scholars also focud on this area. Chine scholar Gu Yueguo wrote a book named Politeness, Pragmatics and Culture, which is a perfect combination of the English politeness principle and the Chine traditional culture. He pointed out that there are six principles in Chine politeness. This paper centered on the contrast analysis between the Chine and English politeness. Firstly, it introduces the de
velopment and the background of the Chine and English politeness theory. Secondly, Sino-English politeness principle distinction is divided parately from six aspects, and then the author produces the reasons for the differences in the politeness principle. Finally, it indicates the politeness principle differences between Chine and western impact on intercultural communication and the solving methods.

摘 要
中国与英语国家赋予礼貌不同的内涵，这种不同之处主要体现在英汉两种语言中礼貌原则的差异。为促进跨文化交际的顺利进行,解决跨文化交际中遇到的关于礼貌的问题。本文将运用对比的手法，讨论英汉礼貌原则的差异且对英汉两民族的跨文化交际中交际双方因礼貌原则差异而引起的交际障碍提出了一定的交际策略。国外不少学者对礼貌原则的问题均有研究和论述， 20世纪80年代，英国语言学家利奇从语用学的角度重新归纳分析了礼貌原
则。他认为，礼貌原则由得体，慷慨，赞誉，谦虚，一致和同情六个方面组成。在国外学者纷纷对礼貌原则作出自己的分析解释时，国内也有学者把目光投向了这块领域，近年来，礼貌语言问题更引起国内语言学界的重视，顾曰国把礼貌概念与中国文化结合起来，指出汉语礼貌概念的四个内涵，尊敬，谦虚，热情和修养。本文主要是以利奇和顾曰国先生的礼貌原则作为基础把中英礼貌原则进行对比分析。首先分别介绍了中英礼貌原则理论的发展背景，然后分别从六个方面对中英礼貌原则的区别进行阐述，接着从五个方面阐述了产生中美礼貌原则差异的原因。最后对英汉礼貌原则差异研究的意义及克服差异方法进行阐述。

Nowadays, against the backdrop of growing economic and trade globalization, the communication between countries is more frequent than before. English has become an important tool of communication around the world. Politeness, as a symbol of civilization, has been playing a significant role in the cross-cultural communication. In British and the United States, as the reprentatives of the western countries, their polite habit is bad on individualism, which is one of a core to capitalism. But we Chine are influent by the Confucianism in the past, and by socialist ideological trend at prent, collectivism is the major value of us. This kind of difference also reflects in the aspect of the politeness principle in English and Chine, which is a barrier to the normal communication.
