摘要:Effects of various cations on the growth of tea and cucumber pollen tubes were studied to determine whether the pollen culture method could be employed for studying the mechanisms of salt stress and its alleviation in crops. NaCl at a concentration of 68 mM reduced the length of the tea pollen tubes to approximately 50% of the value of the control in the abnce of divalent cations. The same degree of inhibition Was found with RbCI, LiCI, NH4Cl, and MgCl2. Stronger inhibition was obrved with CsCI, BaCl2, and SrCl2, while a lower inhibition was recorded with KCl and CaCl2.
