摘要： An apparatus (10) comprising a patient support mattress ventilated fully supports the patient only through a pressurized air stream in total abnce of any solid internal support structure which might cau pressure ulcers due to pressure or injury Similar to the patient's skin. In preferred embodiments, the mattress apparatus (10) includes a lower air chamber (34) with an upper wall (26) permeable to air, associated with a condary wall (36) overlying breathable suede or unpolished leather, attached to the chamber (34) so a s to define an inflatable upper chamber (40) between the top and side walls. A fan arrangement (12) is operatively associated with the lower chamber (34) to provide pressurized air; this air pass into the chamber (34) and cross the upper and damped condary walls (26) (36) for filling the mattress (16). The current air continuously through the mattress (16) also provides a soothing ventilation for nsitized skin. The suede or unpolished leather ud for the condary wall (36) create a smooth and comfortable for the patient, which facilitates the dispersion of cutaneous moisture, acts as an insulator, prevents friction and is a completely natural material.
