评论：我翻译《天演论》用小说型的叙事描写的思想去翻译这个小短文，没有一处才用文言文四字格,或者对仗的修辞手法.原文英文句式较复杂,如第一句，如“it may be assumed that。。.，;before。。。。。； in which 。。。。.;what is called.。。;”不仅有时间、地点状语从句还有主从句，也有宾语从句,翻译起来句式处理比较难,按照中文习惯翻译成逻辑清晰，句式优美的句子更难。我在翻译时候，首先考虑的是调整句式,并且能够表达清楚原文的大意，我翻译是”大胆的假设，倘若·····在···之前···从··地方···”把整个事情阐释清楚。“the state of nature.” 我翻译成“自然状态”，其实原文的作者是想表达，这个地方处于原始没有人涉足的时期,这里到处都是原生态的样子。第二句，貌似更难翻译，我看了好久才弄明白原文的意思，句式依旧很复杂，采用了倒装句，并列句,复合句，定语从句等修饰，用词也独特，如“pulchral mounds；break the flowing contours of the downs；veil of vegetation；man’s hands and made no mark ”等,这些词汇使得译者在翻译时,对中文的选词变得十分苛刻,尤其是文学翻译，对文学作品的用词，句法，修辞等手法，极为讲究。我在翻译时候，需要考虑到原文作者的表达意图，使用方法和技巧，还需要判断下作者的
文学立场和视角。因此，翻译批评对译者的译作有知道和监督的作用，这样才能保证译作的质量。
