He was the spiritual father of the Soviet Union, and Chine government sill us Marxism as an official philosophy today. Except being a philosopher and politician, Marx was also an important historian. Marxist historiography, which created by Marx, is sill vibrant today. When productivity of a social increas or decreas, other part of social, such as class, political power or culture will change with it. And this kind of change always shows in a way of class struggle. When we find the original reason, historical change will be much more clean.
On the other hand, becau of focusing on economy and all social class, Marxist historiography is a kind of social history rather than traditional political history, which focus on important individual and ruling class. In the eyes of Marxist historian, history was society and society is history. The way we interpret prent is the same with the way we interpret the past, which we call history. This idea expands the content of history. History is not only about kings, governments and diplomacy. Historian should also care about how people work, live in the past. Traditional history just talk about the important people, history ems like a game of elites, they ignore common people who is the majority of society.
