环创摘要：The invention relates to a method for sorting objects by color. Conventionally, conversion of red, blue and green color signals to a hue value results in a hue value that is either in the first quadrant of a cartesian coordinate system enhancing red colors, or the cond quadrant enhancing yellow-green colors. However, if objects have more than one color, or multiple objects of different colors are sorted simultaneously, color conversion may be inappropriately enhanced. The invention overcomes this drawback by color sorting bad on hue values that can extend beyond the red to green color range in order to sort objects encompassing a broader color range. The method of classifying objects (22) includes nsing a multiple color image of at least a portion of the object and producing color signals indicative of a plurality of colors in respon to nsing the multiple color image. The color signals are transformed to a hue signal and a saturation signal, and the object is classified in respon to the hue signal and the saturation signal.
