1.
General
1.1 This procedure applies to the receiving inspection of material ud for the ASME Code Section VIII Division 1 pressure vesls.
1.2 This procedure is supplemental to the QC Manual and shall be ud in conjunction with the Section 4 of the QC Manual.
1.3 The measuring and test equipment ud for the inspection shall be calibrated and be ud in the effective period.
2. The Inspection Requirements
2.1 Plate Materials
2.1.1 For plates, the receiving inspection shall be made in accordance with the requirements specified in the Material Requisition (Sample Form NO. HTD/ST03-01) and Purcha Specification. The Material Test Report (MTR) shall be coincident with the receiving material.
2.1.2 All plates to be ud in constructing pressure vesl shall be visually inspected for the imperfection on surface and cut edge.
2.1.3 Dimensions shall be measured. Plate shall be checked to ensure that the thickness at any location is not less than that required in material purcha documents.
2.1.4 The original identification markings on material shall be checked against the Material Test Report, and shall comply with the requirements of applicable Purcha Specification.
2.1.5 When there is a requirement of re-inspection for the raw materials, samples shall be taken from the raw materials, re-inspection data shall comply with the specification.
2.2 Tube, Pipe and Forgings
2.2.1 For tube, pipe and forgings, the material shall be accepted in accordance with the Material Requisition and Purcha Specification. If the materiel specification provides the marking of each piece with the specification designation, including the grade, type, and cl
ass if applicable, the marking of each piece shall be so verified in accordance with the material specification.
2.2.2 Visual Examination should be ud to inspect its surface and to measure its geometric dimension. The results of inspection should be in accordance with the values required in the Purcha Document and the Code specification.
2.2.3 If the material specification does not provide the marking of each piece as indicated in 2.2.1 above, the material shall be accepted as complying with the material specification provided the following requirements are met:
a) Each bundle, lift or shipping container is marked with the specification designation, including the grade, type and class if applicable by the material manufacturer or supplier.
b) The material shall be handled and stored in the Warehou and Workshop in bundle or container, and each bundle or container shall be identified with the material markings as required by material specification.

2.2.4 For tube or pipe where the length is not adequate for the complete marking in accordance with the material specification, the material shall be acceptable as complying with the material specification, provided the coded marking is applied to each piece of the tube or pipe by the material supplier, and the applied marking is traceable to the specification designation, including the grade, type, and class if applicable.

2.3.1 For purchad formed heads, the markings shall be verified against Material Test Report and product certificate for traceability. The head plate marking shall comply with the applicable plate material specification.
2.3.2 The shape of head shall be examined using a accurately formed templates, and the results shall comply with UG-81.
2.3.3 The dimensions shall be checked for conformance to the design drawings.
2.3.4 Certification shall comply with the requirements of Material Requisition and Purcha Specification.
2.4 Standard Parts
Standard parts as described by UG-11 shall be marked with the name or trademark of the parts manufacturer and such other markings as are required by the standard. Such markings shall be considered as the parts manufacturer’s certification that the product complies with the material specification and standards indicated and is suitable for rvice at the rating indicated.
