A web is detected by nsing whether the document exceeds a pret length and has sprocket holes. This automatically switches the feeder from said individual sheet document mode to a computer form web document mode for feeding and registering subquent lengths of a web, wherein in said computer forms web document mode the subquent computer forms web page feeding and registrations are accomplished by incrementing the web in pret incremental feeding distances controlled by nsing sprocket holes in the computer forms web but with the same frictional (non-sprocket drive) feeder and without utilizing a mechanical registration gate; and wherein in said individual sheet document mode the individual sheet page registrations are by appropriately cycling a mechanical registration gate in and out of the document path.
