Lesson 70 Red for danger
During a bullfight, a drunk suddenly wandered into the middle of the ring. The crowd began to shout, but the drunk was unaware of the danger. The bull was busy with the matador at the time, but it suddenly caught sight of the drunk who was shouting rude remarks and waving a red cap. Apparently nsitive to criticism, the bull forgot all about the matador and charged at the drunk. The crowd suddenly grew quiet. The drunk, however, emed quite sure of himlf. When the bull got clo to him, he clumsily stepped aside to let it pass. The crowd broke into cheers and the drunk bowed. By this time, however, three men had come into the ring and they quickly dragged the drunk to safety. Even the bull emed to feel sorry for him, for it looked on sympathetically until the drunk was out of the way before once more turning its attention to the matador.

Apparently nsitive to criticism, the bull forgot all about the matador and charged at the drunk.
注意本句话中的“Apparently nsitive to criticism”是简略结构，其完整原形应该是：
Becau it was apparently nsitive to criticism
这其实是属于把从句改为分词短语结构的运⽤。关于这个内容，我们在第20课的“每课⼀句”⾥已经做了说明，⼤家可以参看下⾯的⽂章：

与第20课所讲的不同的是，本课的这句话中的从句谓语动词不是⾏为动词，⽽是系表结构。尽管在把从句改为短语时的基本步骤是⼀样的，但是要注意如果是系表结构，改为短语后，be动词⼀般要改为现在分词形式。⽐如，本课中的这句话中的从句改为短语后应该是：
Being apparently nsitive to criticism
⽽在此基础上，being可以出于简化的需要被进⼀步删除，从⽽才有了原⽂中的版本：
Apparently nsitive to criticism

注意这句话中的for是并列连词，它所引导的句⼦是⽤来补充说明前句所描述的状况的原因。
同样是表原因，becau所引导的句⼦为从句，⽽for所引导的句⼦为并列句。此外，becau所以引导的从句，可以根据表达需要置于句⾸或句末，⽽for所引导的句⼦则只能位于句末。试⽐较：
【对】Many families break up becau of a lack of money.
芜湖科技馆【对】Becau of a lack of money many families break up.

【对】The family broke up, for it was in lack of money.
【错】For it was in lack of money, the family broke up.
