《总叙》Preface
弟子规 圣人训 首孝悌 次谨信925银首饰
The are the rules for being a student handed down to us by ancient sages
first of all, be filial to your own parents and respectful to all of your elders; be trustworthy and cautious
泛爱众 而亲仁 有余力 则学文

On Being Filial At Home
父母呼 应勿缓 父母命 行勿懒 父母教 须敬听 父母责 须顺承
When your mother or father is calling, don't be slow to respond.
When your parents need to instruct you, you should listen with patient respect.
Whatever your parents must scold you, accept it with faithful compliance.
冬则温 夏则凊 晨则省 昏则定
In the winter, make sure they are warm; in the summer, make sure they are cool.
In the morning, cheerfully greet them; in the evening, tell them 'Good night.'

财物轻 怨何生 言语忍 忿自泯
Don't think of wealth as important, or el they will feel rentful
be patient when talking to others, then you won't be troubled by anger
或饮食 或坐走 长者先 幼者后
when people are eating or drinking, sitting down or taking a walk, let tho who are older go first, the young ones should follow behind
长呼人 即代叫 人不在 己即到

称尊长 勿呼名 对尊长 勿见能
