1. INTRODUCTION
Welcome to this installation guide for Nieln Answers desktop 7.5.15 using the One Click Installer.
2. GETTING READY
The following lists the recommended and minimum hardware specifications for Answers desktop version 7.5.15. Operating systems have their own minimum specifications and, depending upon the operating system you u, the minimum hardware specifications below may be below tho required
for your operating system.
2.1 Supported Systems
Answers desktop 7.5.15 is supported for u with the following Microsoft Windows Operating Systems:

Nieln Answers desktop version 7.5.15 is supported for u with the following databa technologies:

3. What is the OCI?
In the past the installation of Answers desktop has been complex and not very ur friendly, the OCI allows an end ur to install Answers desktop and configure the Content Area at the click of a button.
The OCI can also be ud to manage upgrades for Answers desktop, simply replace the “Nieln Answers.msi” with the latest ver sion.
You can run the OCI in the following 2 ways;
1. Standard – This method will install the pre-requisites of Answers desktop silently but
the GUI will appear when installing Answers.
2. Customized - This method will allow the ur to configure an XML file which will install

4. Folder Structure
Below is the folder structure and files which the OCI needs to function correctly;
01 – Contains the Installation files for framework
02 – Contains Installation files for C++ Redistribute package
03 – Contains Installation files for OWC11
04 - Contains Installation files for MDAC 2.7
05 - Contains Installation files for MSXML
Answers - Contains Installation files for Answers desktop
Client Setup – Contains client specific tup details
5. Features
The following list details the main features of the Nieln Answers One Click Installer.
Prerequisites– The OCI does a check of prerequisites installed on the system, once done only the missing prerequisites will be installed. The prerequisites will be installed silently with an on screen status displayed.
System Check– The OCI will check to make sure the Operating System and Office version are compatible with the version of Answers desktop being installed.
My ACNieln Answers– The OCI manages the upgrade from pre v7.2 where the Content Folder was called “My ACNieln Answers” to post 7.3 where the Content Folder was renamed to “My Nieln Answers”. This is updated in the registry and also the folder structure.
Advisor Licen File– The OCI will check if an Advisor licen file is prent on the machine its being run on, if it finds one then this is copied into the DCL and the licen file is time/date stamped so it works with Content Maintenance.
Version Handling– The OCI will change its installation process bad on the version of the Answers desktop MSI, for example if the 7.5 MSI is prent then the installer will install OWC 11.
Removal of Advisor– Before Answers desktop is installed, a check is done to e whether Advisor is prent on the workstation, if prent the OCI will uninstall Advisor before installing Answers desktop.
The following are configurable features of the Nieln Answers One Click Installer
Content Area–If a “My Nieln Answers” folder is prent in the “Client Setup” then the OCI will move this into the DCL once Answers desktop has been installed.
Answers desktop Silent Installation– It is possible to configure the Answers Installation so no ur interaction is required to install the software. The installation options can be configured in the “Answers_l” located in the “Client Setup” folder.
Pre and Post Scripting– To further allow for custom installations whilst keeping the OCI as a generic tool which can be ud everywhere, the OCI support pre and post scripting. This allows the client to run scripting which works from a CMD prompt. This can be ud for installing additional Nieln Software or further customising the installation and tup.
6. Customizing the OCI Installation
The Nieln Answers OCI can be customized in veral ways; this ction will explain which files need to be modified.
6.1 Silent Installation of Answers desktop
Answers desktop can either be installed using the Installation Wizard (Standard Installation) or silen tly bad on the values in the “Answers_l” in the “Client Setup” folder. The following part of the XML controls the installations of Answers desktop;

The name of the client/organisation Answers desktop is to be installed at.
<Install_Folder>
The destination folder is defined as the location where the Answers desktop program files (i.e. the binary files) will be installed.
<Content_Location>
The Default Content Location (DCL) is where Answers desktop looks for a number of configuration files (e.g. licen file, Business Applications, dictionaries, etc). It needs to be a location where the ur has read and write access (e.g. the ur's My Documents folder).
The Default Content Location (DCL) is recommended to be s etup as “My Nieln Answers”. However, the pre v7.3 naming convention, “My ACNieln Answers” can be ud if necessary. The Default Content Location contains a few sub-folders and files with default ttings created on the first installation or upgrade. Notes: Answers desktop does not expect the Content Location to be in u by more than one ur at a time. It is very IMPORTANT that ur has full read/write rights to this loca
tion.
