A Man and a Satyr having struck up an acquaintance, sat down together to eat. The day being wintry and cold, the Man put his fingers to his mou and blew opon them. "Whats that for, my friend?" asked the Satyr. " My hands are so cold," said the Man, "I do it to warm them." In a little while some hot food was placed before them, and the Man, raising the dish to his mou, again blew opon it. "And whats the meaning of that, now?" said the Satyr. "Oh," replied the Man, "my porridge is so hot, I do it to cool it." "Nay, then," said the Satyr, "from this moment I renounce your friendship, for I will have nothing to do with one who blows hot and cold with the same mou."

GETTING THIRSTY ON SEEING WATER

Once there was a fellow desperately in need of water for his thirst. On eing the blazing fog, he mistook it for water. He pursued it until he reached the Indus River. But he only looked at it without drinking. A bystander asked, "You are suffering from thirst. How that you have found water, why dont you drink it?"日弄
愚人答言：“若可饮尽，我当饮之。此水极多，俱不可尽，是故不饮。”
The fellow answered, "If I could drink up all that water, I would do it. Since there is more water than I can finish, I would rather not drink it at all."

The children agreed that this was a clever plan. Up the hill they went to the old woman’s hut.

孩子们都异口同声的说这是一个聪明的'计划。他们爬上山，来到了老妇人的小屋。
“奶奶，我们要问您一个问题。”他们都大声说道。
“我手里是什么东西?”那个小男孩问道。
“噢，肯定是一只小鸟，”老妇人回答说。
“可是活的还是死的呢?”小男孩兴奋的问到。
老妇人想了一会儿，然后回答说：“孩子，这由你来决定。”
