Scandal (ason 1 episode 1-3)
The latest hot US TV ries Scandal shows us a new perspective for the political drama. In Scandal, the protagonist is no longer the wily politician but the crisis PR manager, which examines the psychologist of people chasing for wealth and fame in another way.
Here is the plot summary:
Olivia Pope is a former White Hou Communications Director for the President of the United States who has left to start her own crisis management firm, Olivia Pope & Associates. Olivia has decided to dedicate her life to protecting the public images of the nation's elite but is finding that no matter how hard she tries, she cannot leave parts of her past behind.
Olivia Pope and Stephen work on getting a Russian Ambassador's baby back from kidnappers. Suddenly Sully comes in pleading for help as his girlfriend has just been murdered; then Olivia gets a call from Cyrus becau a woman named Amanda Tanner has
been saying that she has been sleeping with the president and request her help. Olivia convinces Sully to come out as gay, which will be an evidence for his alibi, and then accepts Amanda as her new client.
Pope & Associates' new client is one of the biggest madams in all of D.C., finding that she is about to go to jail for the rest of her life; Olivia ts Quinn up to look after Amanda, only to find that she walked away from the hospital; Quinn meets a reporter named Gideon and finds that he is looking to make a story out of Amanda trying to kill herlf. One of the names on the 'client list' is Fitzs' candidate to be on the Supreme Court, but he know nothing about it; Olivia finds that it is his wife that he slept with years ago and convinces her to tell him that she was a call girl.
Pope & Associates' current client is a man who is being charged with rape; Amanda moves in with Olivia and request that she have a meeting with the President; Mellie invites Olivia to the Presidential Ball, finding that he'll be able to sleep now; Quinn starts flirting with Gideon in an effort to find out the information that he knows on Amanda. After
talking to her client, Olivia convinces the madam to turn her son into the police; Fitz finds that Mellie knew about his affair with Olivia the entire time; Cyrus finds that someone recorded Fitz and Amanda having x. Amanda confess to Olivia that she's pregnant with the Presidents' child.
The major character whom I most identify with is Olivia Pope. The reason is that she thinks fast and effectively and she has rescued from assorted affairs of varying amounts of unsavory elements. All in all, she is a very excellent woman who is “emotionally strong, professionally powerful, and personally complicated". On the other hand, the character I least identify with is Sully who is so hypocritical. He is in esnce a gay while he refus to admit that, as he is both a military officer and an anti-gay Republican. And he is also very cowardly for he isn’t brave enough to protect the people he loves.
At last, if I am the playwright, I would let one person hated Pope much expo the relationship between her and the president, which will be a bombing for Pope, the preside
nt as well as the US people. Pope will have to deal with her own scandal. As for Amanda, she will keep on asking for having a talk with the president face to face or even threatening him.
