表示“适当的”、“合适的”、“应得的”，通常只放在名词前作定语。如：
We should pay due attention to this problem. 我们应对这个问题给予适当的注意。
You must put the things in due order. 你必须把这些东西按适当的顺序放好。
due用法4
用于 due to(由于，因为)。按照传统语法 due to 主要引导表语，一般不引导状语。如：
His abnce was due to the storm. 他因暴风雨而缺席。
Her success was due to her hard work. 她成功是因为她努力工作。
但是在现代英语中，due to 也可用来引导状语。如
He was late due to the very heavy traffic. 由于交通拥挤他迟到了。

一、due to可看作复合介词，作“由于”解：
1.Changes of state of matter are due to incread motion of molecules.（表语）物质状态的变化是由于分子运动增大的缘故。
2.The force due to gravitation caus objects to have weight.（定语）
地心吸引力使物体具有重量。
3.A part of the energy is wasted in machines due to friction.（状语）一部分能量由于摩擦而消耗在机器内。
4.Their failure is due to the fact that they lack experience.（上句中due to…作表语，that后的从句也可视为the fact的同位语从句。这里也可把due to the fact that…整个地理解为表语从句。注意也可用来引出原因从句。参阅第258页上部二。）他们的失败是因为他们缺少经验。
二、两点注意：
Ⅰ.due原是形容词，后面有时也用上to，必须注意辨别：
1.He is due to speak tomorrow.（due作“预定的”解，to不是介词。）他预定明天讲话。秋天成熟的水果有哪些

Ⅱ.注意复合介词分开情况：
In many waters are found various kinds of minerals, to which substances the hardness of water is due.许多种水中发现有各种矿物质，而水的硬度就是由于这些物质引起的。
注：due to在意义上是和becau of及owing to相同的。但是becau of只能作状语，而due to和owing to 既可作原因状语，也可作表语。注意due to短语不要放在句首。
due to: 因…引起；可归于… 相当于caud by;
