三、Rule 8 破折号的使用
U a dash to t off an abrupt break or interruption and to announce a long appositive or summary.破折号用于分隔一个中断、声明一个长的同位语或者概述。
它比逗号的中断效果强；没有冒号正式；比括号更自由宽松。
例子：
作曲家歌词破折号用作中断：
His first thought on getting out of bed---if he had any thought at all---was to get back in again.如何平复心情

破折号用作分隔长的同位语：鲁班简介
白桦The rear axle began to make a noi---a grinding, chattering, teeth-gritting rasp.

破折号用作分隔长的概述：

但是将存折号仅用作普通的中断时，似乎并不合适。
Her father's suspicious proved well-founded---it was not Edward she cared for---it was San Francisco.
