T: Class begins, boys and girls! Good morning/afternoon!

1. Help Students to understand speculative mood.
T: Read the following three ntences and find out their differences.
1) She travelled around the UK last year. (Declarative mood)
2) If only she had travelled around the UK! (Subjunctive mood)

T asks some students to discuss the three ntences.
T: We know from the first ntence that “she did travel around the UK and has some experiences of UK.”, so it is a display of facts, using a declarative mood.
T: We know from the cond ntence that “she hasn三年级小学生作文’t been to the UK and she wished she had been there.” So this ntence states an assumption, using subjunctive mood.
T: We know from the third ntence, “In the speaker’s opinion, she has been to the UK. It has not proved a FACT, but there is great possibility that she has travelled around the UK.” So this ntence states an inference, using speculative mood.
2. Learn expressions related to speculative mood.
T: When we u speculative mood, we usually include “I think, may/might/could, likely, probable, possible” in speaking.
T: Go through the expressions given in part C.

3. Talk about the comic strip BP23.
T: Discuss what might happen next in the comic strip BP23. U as much 维修电动车speculative mood as possible.
Sample answer:
A: What do you think will happen next in the story? Where are the alien and the boy going?
B: It’s quite likely that Alf will take the boy to visit his home planet. But what will they do once they arrive?
A: Paul is a visitor, so Alf would want to introduce him to his family. When they land on Alf’s home planet, Paul will walk out into the strange new world feeling excited but nervous.
B: For sure! There’ll be unusual buildings, trees and animals. And while Paul accepts the
reality of where he is, we can introduce a new character — a green space monster with three octopus’ legs, one enormous yellow eye and a mouth full of sharp teeth. It moves quickly towards Paul. What will happen to him?
A: Paul’s first thought is to run away. But where? Perhaps he’ll try to get back into the spaceship, but he finds the door is locked. And he’s surprid that the scary alien monster jumps up at Alf instead!
B: Yes, and what is likely to occur later? Does Paul try to save Alf?
A: Hmm, I think it’s quite probable that Paul will run away and look for a place to hide. After all, he has no idea how dangerous the monster is. wifi二维码What could possibly happen after that?
B: The monster follows Paul, finds him and just as it is about to attack him, Alf comes to his rescue.
A: Paul finds out that the “scary” monster is actually Alf’s lovable pet! It just wants to lick

A: Well, Alf takes Paul to meet his family — after all, that is the original plan!
