Step 1 Warming-up
Look at the pictures and talk about the questions.
When is Tomb-sweeping Day?
What do people usually do on Tomb-sweeping Day?
What other traditional Chine festivals can you think of?

Step 2 Pre-reading
1. Look at the pictures and talk about the relative festivals.

2.Look at the pictures and read the words.Then guess the main idea of 3a.

Language points
1. Chine people have been celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival and enjoying mooncakes for centuries.数个世纪以来,中国人一直在庆祝中秋节、吃月饼。
(1) 现在完成进行时 have been celebrating 是现在完成进行时,结构为“have/has been+动词的现在分词”。小说背景
初冷器e.g. We have been learning English for ten years. 
(2) for centuries 意为“数个世纪以来”,相当于 since centuries ago。for与表示一段时间的状语连用,表示“(做某事)多长时间了”。
e.g. I’ve been living in China for five years.
2. However, most people think that the story of Chang’e is the most touching.然而,大多数人认为嫦娥的故事是最感人的。
(1) the story of Chang’e is the most touching是宾语从句,关联词是that。
(2) 第一个most是“大多数”之意,第二个most在touching前面构成最高级。
3. Whoever took this could live forever, and Hou Yi planned to take it with Chang’e.无论谁服下此药都会长生不老,后羿打算和嫦娥一起服用。
(1) whoever 意为“无论谁,不管什么人”。在此处引导主语从句,相当于anyone who。
e.g. Whoever comes will be welcome.
(2) plan to do sth. 意为“打算/计划做某事”
e.g. He plans to go fishing after work.
4. Hou Yi was so sad that he called out her name to the moon every night.后羿悲痛不已,以至于每晚都对着月亮大声呼喊她的名字。
(1) sothat…意为“如此…以至于……”,so是副词,其后跟形容词或副词,that后跟句子。
e.g. He was so happy that he jumped up. 
报道的格式(2) call out…to…意为“对着……大喊……”
e.g. I heard someone calling out for help.
5. How he wished that Change could come back!他是多么希望嫦娥能回来呀!
(1) 这是一个感叹句,其中Chang’e could come back是宾语从句。
(2) wish 意为“希望”。
【拓展】wish to do sth. 意为“希望做某事”wish sb. to do sth. 意为“希望某人做某事”;wish+that 从句,意为“希望……”,后跟从句时,一般表示难以实现的“愿望”,从句常用虚拟语气。
e.g. I wish that I could fly like a bird.

常用结构:admire sb. / sth. 意为“欣赏 / 仰慕某人 / 某物”admire sb. for sth. 意为“为某事钦佩某人”。
e.g. We admired Miss Green for her knowledge.
