the works themlves. In turn, the works can also well show the charm of tradi-
tional culture and art, and can complement each other, and better explain the ideo-
logical connotation of graphic design works.
2. Elements of Chine Traditional Culture and Art
After 5,000 years of historical changes, China has a very rich cultural charac-teristics. Mentioning Chine traditional culture, the first thing that comes to mind
should be the four treasures of the study room, which, as an indispensable writing
tool in ancient times, has a profound impact on the history of Chine characters.
There are countless ways to write Chine characters, such as regular script, cur-
sive script, running script, etc. And we can say that the Chine characters are the
main witness of the spread and development of Chine traditional culture, which
belongs to a cultural and artistic element visually. Another witness can also be
called the facial makeup of Peking Opera. A facial makeup color reprents a kind
of meaning: Red reprents the character of courage, blood, loyalty and unyielding.

indicate Bao Zheng, and then extended to his upright and unlfish character, and
so on. This let us know that every color of every kind of facial makeup, the char-
acter it reprents is different. The Chine have been keen on life since ancient
times. We like to predict a good life with good things. Almost all countries know
that China has a special color, that is, Chine red: red flag, red lantern and Chi-
ne knot, which all symbolize the prosperous life of the Chine people.
There are also Chine elements such as murals, paper cuts, window grilles, shadow plays, Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes and so on. It can be en that the

3. Traditional Culture and Graphic Design
Chine graphic design has always been cloly related to the content of tra-ditional culture and art, and has evolved with the historical development of tradi-
tional culture. For example, in the old times, when food and clothing became a
problem, there were not many art forms to develop, but many types of art, such as
graphic design, were born at that time. Although there was no such concept at that
time, such works still existed objectively. For example, even if a simple totem is a
graphic design. The ancients took some traditional animals as the main design ob-

jects. Becau the animals give people some spiritual sustenance and regard it as
a symbol of a nation, then it is no longer just a symbol of image. At that time,
graphic design was connected with a kind of cultural thought. After China entered
the feudal society, culture and art have developed rapidly. While reflecting a cer-
tain social form and spiritual and cultural level, some popular elements also
adopted national symbols and other patterns.
Chine murals and other art forms have a long history, just like graphic de-sign in modern society. When we summarize and verify the ancient Chine cul-
ture, we will find many traditional cultural and artistic elements, which are hidden
in the ancient art works, waiting for people to explore. And after a long time of
baptism, traditional culture and art in the long river of history has been better de-
veloped. We can find the popular elements of traditional culture and art creation
and absorb its esnce for other places, such as applying it to modern graphic de-
sign, enriching the connotation of graphic design works.
When modern graphic design began to ri in China, many designers and art-ists extensively ud western ideas and cultures for reference in modern graphic
design, but in the later practice, many designers gradually realized that we can not
blindly imitate western elements and western culture to design works. Therefore, All Rights Rerved.
many designers began to integrate traditional Chine culture and art elements into
modern graphic design. For example, some posters and advertiments contain the
樱桃什么时候开花traditional art mode. Some traditional national culture and art elements play an
important role in coordinating modern graphic design, such as patterns, brands,
colors, customs and habits of traditional culture, which effectively improve the

ne traditional culture and art elements in modern graphic design will contribute
to the spread and development of Chine traditional culture and art elements. At
prent, the state’s strong support for national culture increasingly affects all as-
pects of the development of Chine traditional culture. Therefore, it is necessary
to arou people’s attention to traditional culture and art, improve people’s under-
standing of the creation of traditional culture and art elements, and make contribu-
tions to the promotion of Chine traditional culture.
4. The Application of Traditional Culture and Art Elements in
Modern Graphic Design

ditional art and culture elements in graphic design, so that they can better integrate
and design excellent graphic design works that are full of soul and can spread tra-
ditional culture.
(1) U of patterns
The word “pattern” does not start from our traditional culture, its origin is in Japan. The expression of traditional elements of Chine art and culture in ancient
Chine art and culture works is not only reflected in murals, but also traces of tra-
ditional Chine art and culture elements can be found in heroic portraits. They are
not only elements of ancient Chine traditional art and culture, but also a symbol
of people’s spirit and character at that time. It is reflected in the cultural and artistic
works at that time, and also reflected in the cultural and artistic works of today’s
society. For example, the logo of the airline is evolved from Phoenix, which sym-
bolizes peace and auspiciousness. There are also some home decoration, it is not
difficult to find that the plum blossom pattern symbolizes the indomitable and
lf-improvement of spiritual character. The orchid pattern symbolizes brotherhood,
noble friendship or elegant and indifferent character. Chrysanthemum symbolizes
indifference to fame and wealth. Bamboo symbolizes strength and peace. Different
patterns have different traditional culture and noble character. Of cour, the ele-All Rights Rerved.
ments of Chine traditional art and culture not only copy the image of traditional
culture in modern graphic design, in order to better inherit and develop traditional
culture, designers have added era elements in innovative design to reflect the
characteristics of the times, better connect with modern graphic design, complied
with the development direction of contemporary Chine culture, and vigorously
promote national culture.
(2) Application of color
Color occupies a very important position in Chine traditional culture. For example, in the famous Chine painting art, many of them u simple color
changes to outline complete works. Maybe there are only some color changes in
the whole picture, but they can clearly express the author’s emotional changes and
complete image. In ancient times, most paintings are bad on mountains and riv-剥鸡蛋
ers. The color of the whole picture is not rich, only a few very similar colors, but it
can draw a complete picture, and fully reflect the changes of the landscape and the
magnificent movement of the picture.
In ancient China, the u of traditional culture and art color is not only repre-nt in the drawing of patterns. In social life, different colors also reprent differ-
ent status. For example, yellow reprents the noble royal family, while dark
clothes such as gray and blue usually symbolize the image of ordinary people. In

ancient times, color is not only reflected in painting, but also in daily life, people
identify by the color of clothes. Traditional color not only distinguishes people’s
state level, but also has different characteristics, including blue and green. Green
reprents life, is a symbol of hope, while blue is a symbol of peace and wisdom.
Red is also a symbol of enthusiasm and vitality. China has always regarded red as
a festive color, yellow as a symbol of nobility and white as a symbol of purity.
Therefore, in the creation of modern graphic design works, we must learn to u
color to show the beauty of Chine traditional culture and art elements to better
express our design works. Of cour, the elements of Chine traditional culture
and art can not copy the image and significance of traditional culture in modern
times, but should carry out innovative design according to the importance of Chi-
ne traditional culture, reflecting the characteristics of the times. It should better
integrate modern graphic design, embody the connotation of traditional culture and
art, and improve people’s consciousness of using traditional culture and art ele-
ments in daily graphic design.

write Chine characters, such as the logo of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games,
