Twice every month, Miranda Sam, a 66-year-old Ghanaian, visited the China Traditional Herbal Hospital, a private herbal facility at Pokua, a suburb of the Ghanaian capital, for treatment.
“I was squeezing lemons, and when I finished, I could not get up or even move my legs, so I went to the hospital and did an X-ray examination, but they saw nothing. Meanwhile, I could not walk and was in a wheelchair,” the retired worker said. Hence Miranda decided to visit the herbal facility. “On two occasions, I had to do acupuncture(针灸), and I have found great relief. Now I walk unaided, so I keep coming for treatment,” she said.
As Traditional Chine Medicine (TCM) is gaining popularity in Ghana, many acupuncture clinics run by Chine doctors pop up in the country. However, the China Traditional Herbal Hospital was established by 52-year-old Ghanaian business owner Bediako, after his fruitful
encounter with the effects of TCM in 2012. With the help of a Chine lady, Bediako t up a small clinic specializing in TCM. Years on, the facility has subquently grown into a bigger herbal hospital. The hospital treats patients with a combination of local and Chine herbal formulas. It supports this with the application of traditional Chine medical methods.
Strokes(中风) account for 1.3 percent of all hospital admissions in Ghana, and 6.3 percent of all hospital deaths. But Bediako is confident that as more people with the conditions turn to the natural methods of healing, the pain and death rates would 苹果的作用和功效subside. “A gentleman was brought here three weeks ago, who could not sit, stand, or walk. He was first taken through acupuncture. I obrved him on camera 30 minutes later, squatting(蹲), standing, and walking. You come here with your pain but will leave with a smile. That is our feature,” he said.
The hospital has started a cond facility in Ashaiman near the capital, with plans to open other branches across the country to meet the growing demand.

Twenty-nine-year-old Maxim Kilev lives in Moscow, Russia, with his beautiful wife, Natalia, and lives with a dia which mainly affects the left side of his body. Maxim is a wheelchair dancer, and does both ballroom style dancing and figure skating on ice.
He initially took up dancing when he was 14 years old as a way to strengthen his body-in particular his left arm and fingers which had limited functionality at the time. Gradually, he began to think about becoming the standing partner of a person using a wheelchair; however, his challenges with balance meant it wasn't going to be possible. His mother and coach suggested he get into a wheelchair himlf. He unwillingly got into a wheelchair but was quickly plead by his progress.
The possibilities without a partner were limited, so Maxim went on in arch of a dance p
artner. With only some practice with his first partner, the pair took part in their first tournament, where they performed well. While his start in partner dancing was good, finding a right partner wasn't easy. His mother would get in touch with the girls' parents or coaches and the vast majority had very rude reactions as soon as they found out he was disabled.
His coaches drove him to grow and develop as a dancer, and came up with some great techniques to help him. His dancing was improved even further when his third coach forced him to think in the way a standing我的班主任老师
dancer did. Maxim says this is what helped his performance to look like dancing rather than just rolling back and forth on the dance floor.
Maxim says his greatest pride is having taken his dancing skills on ice. He is the first high level figure skater in a wheelchair, and still the only one to this day. Maxim is taking a break from dance becau of health issues, but he recently participated in a Russian Virtual Reality Project which aims to motivate people with disabilities to get more active in
real life.
