叶公喜欢龙，已经出了名了。
他住的屋子里，墙上画着龙，柱子上雕着龙，卧室四面的墙壁上也刻着龙，上上下下，前前后后，到处都是龙，一条条张牙舞爪。
天上有一条真的龙，听说叶公这样喜欢龙，高兴极了。
有一天，天空突然暗了下来，又是刮风，又是打雷，又是下雨，真龙飞到了叶公的家里。它把头伸进了南面的窗口，把尾巴绕到了北面的窗口，把整个屋子摇得格格直响。
叶公看到这条真龙，一下子吓得魂飞魄散，浑身发抖，急忙躲了起来。

1. Ye Gong Is Fond of Dragons
翁宏Ye Gong was well-known for his fondness for dragons.

2. Waiting for Hares by the Tree
In the past, there was a farmer in the State of Song. There stood a big tree in the field he cultivated. One day, while working in the field, he suddenly saw a hare running by in front of him. The hare bumped against the big tree, broke its neck and died under the tree.
Without any effort, the farmer happily enjoyed a meal of hare meat. He was very plead and thought how nice it would be if every day were like this.
Thereupon, he no longer cultivated his land, but watched by that tree and waited for the chance to pick up another hare which knocked itlf dead against the tree.
He waited and waited and watched. His field lay waste, but he never got a cond hare. The people in the village laughed at him for taking the accidental for the inevitable.
3. 刻舟求剑
一天，有个楚国人坐船过河，一不小心，身上挂的宝剑掉进河里去了。他一点儿也不着急，慢腾腾地拿出小刀，在船舷上刻了一个记号。

“为什么不赶快下水把它捞起来？你在船舷上刻这个记号有什么用啊？”

3. Cutting a Mark on the Boat to Find the Sword
One day, a man of the State of Chu was crossing a river by boat. Due to carelessness, his sword which hung at his side fell into the water. Not in the least worried, he slowly took out a knife and cut a mark on the side of the boat.
Someone on the boat asked him:
“Why don’t you jump into the water at once to fish for your sword? What’s the u of making this mark on the side of the boat?”
He pointed to the mark on the side of the boat, saying unhurriedly:
“There is no need to worry. My sword fell into the river at this marked place. As soon as the boat teaches the dock and pulls in to shore. I will jump down from here to retrieve my sword.”

老婆婆说：
“磨成针。”

“能，一定能！只要功夫深，铁棒就能磨成针。”
李白听了老婆婆的话，心里忽然明白了。
从此，李白刻苦读书，进步很快。后来，他终于成了一位有名的诗人。
4. Grinding an Iron Rod into to Needle
Li Bai was a great poet in the Tang Dynasty of China.
It is said that in his childhood, he was very fond of playing and afraid of difficulties, and made slow progress in his studies.
One day, on his way home after school, he walked by creek and saw an old woman grinding a very, very thick iron rod. Being curious, he went to the old woman and asked:
“Old grandma, why are you grinding this iron rod?”
The old woman replied: “To make a needle.”
At this moment, Li Bai felt more curious and asked again:
“How can you grind such a thick iron rod into a needle?”
“Yes, I can. I certainly can,” the old woman said. “If one works with constant effort, one can grind an iron rod into a needle.”
Hearing the old woman’s words, Li Bai was enlightened.
Since then, Li Bai studied hard and made rapid progress. Eventually he became a famous poet.
5. 对牛弹琴
公明仪是古代一位很有名气音乐家，弹得一手好琴。
有一天，他在室内弹琴，看见一头牛在窗外悠闲地吃着草。他忽然想弹几曲给牛听听。他先弹了一曲“清角之操”。可是，牛还是跟刚才一样，只顾低着头吃草。他似乎意识到，这支曲子太高雅了，牛没有听懂。
于是，他弹了另外几支曲子，模拟蚊子成群结队飞来飞去的嗡嗡声；模拟小牛犊寻找伙伴
的哞哞叫唤声。这样一来，这头牛竟然不吃草了，抬起头，竖着耳朵，甩着尾巴，迈着小步，留心地倾听起来。
