The first paragraph introduces the background. The tram belongs to a single-line tramway in Midland. Single-line may also means life. Life is single line. There is no Time Machine you can u to go anytime you want. The time only moves on and you will also move on active or passive. In this single line, if you lost something, it would be very hard to get it back. It describes many details about where the tram goes through including countryside,da
le,canals railways,churches,colliery, just like life. Everyone will experience a lot in his whole life and life is all about ups and downs.
The next three paragraphs describe the situation on the tram. “To ride on the cars is always an adventure.” Becau the drivers are unfit for the active drivers: cripples and hunchbacks and so they have the spirit of the devil making the rides become steeple-cha.But even so, the car still packs with one solid mass of living people. Even though the cars on fire. This shows that people choo to adventure when facing bigger danger.
The tram rvice is entirely conducted by girls. The heroine is an inspector named Annie. The fifth paragraph started with a conversation between heroine and a pasnger. Annie begins to check the tickets. “Tickets,plea”. This is the first time this ntence showing up. It is the title ntence. In there, it just means checking the tickets happening in every tram, even today. But in the whole text ,it has some more meanings. We u tickets to gets on a car. Then the car will take us to our destination. So paying for the car is our responsibility. We should pay for what we have done.No matter cars or something el. If not , we should get punishment.
