面人的原料一般用面粉和糯米粉以及各种彩色颜料调制而成的，经手工捏制成各种人物、动物，所捏出的面人有着浓郁的生活气息和地方特色。在过去，捏面人的师傅通常会背着小木箱走街串巷。如果遇到顾客，他就会打开箱子，现捏现卖。同时，他的身边通常会围着很多的小孩子，他们认为观看捏面人可算上是种视觉享受。五颜六色的面团，被捏面师傅随手一掰，附在一根小木棍上捏出一个轮廓，再用其他颜色的面团经过搓、捏、压、按等多种手法捏出五官和四肢，然后，再借助刀子、牙签、细线等工具进行细加工，一个面人就这么神奇的成形了。但是现在，这种场景通常只能在每年春节的庙会上才能看到。晋江市教师进修学校
