C＆M has always considered staff training an esntial part of its activities. In 1962, the firm bought a large country hou at Lethbridge, a small village near Brighton, on the south coast, and converted the hou into a residential training center. Altogether it can provide accommodation for thirty people, including the teaching staff. The Head of Staff Training does not like the cour to be too big and they usually consist of no more than ten or twelve members, but there are often two or more cours running at the same time. When this happens, some of the trainees and other cour members have to live in lodgings in Brighton. For this, the firm gives them a cost-of-living allowance.
Although there are many different types of cours, generally, they are technical, administrative and managerial, or concerned with some aspect of sales. Emily: Hey, Mike.
Mike: How’s it going, Emily?

Mike: I’ll finish my last exam this afternoon. I’m on my way to the library to finish studying for it. Where are you going this summer?
Emily: I’m planning to work in Vancouver, at Fisheries Center of University of British Columbia. I’ll be studying salmon.
Mike: That sounds like a great job. I’ll be working nearby on the coast in Richmond.
Emily: What are you going to do on the coast?
