Foreword
DBL 5490 describes the supply specifications for plastic components such as covers, housing parts or paneling parts manufactured from recycled materials.
Changes
In comparison with edition 2004-01, the following changes have been made:
−Complete revision of existing standards and mechanical and physical properties.
−Materials for the interior are specified for new applications in DBL 5404. All product versions for interior applications are barred for new applications in this DBL.
−Requalification of materials ud in accordance with ISO/TS 16949
−Inclusion of template "Product-related test results" (available from DocMaster)梦见巨蛇
−Change of scope: "New and not yet specified product versions and materials are specified using the applicable DBLs for virgins materials with the related requirements (e.g. DBL 5404, DBL 5416 etc.).“

1 Scope
This DBL applies to all plastic parts which consist principally of recycled material recovered from ud end-of-life parts. A recycled material proportion of at least 50% should be ud; 100% shall be targeted. The recycled material proportion depends on the properties required and on the availability of end-of-life parts. In exceptional cas or where no end-of-life material is available, 100% virgin material may be u-d. New and not yet specified product versions and materials are specified using the applicable DBLs for virgin materials with the related requirements (e.g. DBL 5416 etc.). Materials for u in the interior shall be sampled and qualified by means of DBL 5404. All product versions for interior applications are barred for new applications in this DBL.

4 General requirements
For safety requirements, homologation (in particular, exhaust emissions) and quality, the existing statutory requirements and laws shall be complied with. In addition, the relevant requirements of Daimler AG apply. All materials, procedures, process, components and systems shall conform to current statutory (gov-ernmental) requirements regarding constituents and recyclability.
Also refer to DBL 8585 (or Mercedes-Benz Special Terms) with regard to such requirements.
