Abstract
Headlines are sometimes called the “soul”of news reports. In journalistic English, they are brief, vivid, and eye-catching. As few people have enough time to read the news from the very beginning to the end, most readers try to know as much information as they can in the shortest possible time. So we should pay more attention to the translation of news headline. This paper tries to find a suitable way of English news headline translation through the discussion of the features, functions and the criteria of English news headline translation.
