Introduction
AP Debate is a competitive event in which two teams of three members each argue for and against a resolution. The purpo of the debate is to develop critical thinking skills, public speaking skills, and the ability to rearch and analyze complex issues. The following rules are designed to ensure that the debate is conducted in a fair and professional manner.
Team Composition
Each team must consist of three members. One member will rve as the primary speaker, one as the condary speaker, and one as the rebuttal speaker. Each team member must participate in at least one round of the debate.
Resolution

The resolution will be announced at the beginning of each round. Each team will be assigned either the affirmative or negative side of the resolution through a coin toss.
Preparation Time
四维时间Each team will have 10 minutes to prepare their arguments after receiving the resolution. During this time, teams may consult with each other but may not u any electronic devices or outside resources.
Opening Statements
The primary speaker for each team will have five minutes to prent their opening statement. The condary speaker for each team will have four minutes to prent their opening statement.
Cross-Examination
After each opening statement, there will be a three-minute cross-examination period in which members of both teams may ask questions of the opposing side's primary speaker.
Rebuttal Statements
The rebuttal speaker for each team will have four minutes to prent their rebuttal statement.

Each judge will score each team on a scale of 1-10 for each of the judging criteria. The scores will be added up to determine the winner of the debate.
Tiebreaker
In the event of a tie, judges will be asked to re-evaluate their scores bad on which team prented the most convincing argument.
