REACh Ordinance No. 1907/2006/EC
The requirements t out in the applicable version of the REACh ordinance (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) and of all its appendices apply insofar as an application falls within the scope of this directive. The application of the REACh ordinance must be ensured.  Link: echa.europa.eu/legislation/reach_legislation_en.asp
Suppliers must ensure that mandatory information is provided about substances of very high concern (SVHC) contained in products, as t out in article 33 of the REACh ordinance. A declarable product (D) is any product which contains a substance included in the candidate list according to article 59 of the REACh ordinance in a concentration of more than 0,1 weight percent.
As soon as a substance is included in Annex XIV of the REACh ordinance (list of substances subject to
authorization), the supplier has to declare it if this substance is a constituent of the formula for a mat
erial contained in his product. Action shall be taken immediately, together with the Schaeffler development departments concerned, to find a substitute for such a material. Link: echa.europa.eu/chem_data_en.asp
3.3 Special prohibition of substances and declaration requirement
In addition to general substance prohibitions, the substances listed in Annex XIV of the REACh ordinance (list of substances subject to authorization) and the substances listed below are prohibited (P) or require declaration (D) if they have been intentionally added. For unintended contaminations, a limit value of 0,1 percent by weight of homogeneous material applies (definition according to GADSL, RoHS).

3.4 Special, application-specific prohibition of substances
The following substances are not prohibited in terms of environmental health and safety. However, in certain applications, the prence of the substances may be disruptive. Therefore, a prohibition of the substances above the limit values given below does not apply generally, but only if explicitly agreed for the product in question.
For such special, application-specific prohibition of substances, both content and contamination of the products shall be taken into account.

3.5 Packaging materials
The substance restrictions given in ctions 3.2 and 3.3 do not apply for the packaging materials of the products concerned. In packaging materials, the cumulative concentration of lead, cadmium, mercury and chromium(VI) must not exceed the limit value of 100 ppm (EU Packaging Directive 94/62/EG).
Where special, application-specific substance prohibitions apply for products, parts or components (3.4), they also apply for the packaging.
4 Information provided in drawings and other documents
4.1 Information in drawings
If restricted substances per S 132030-1 are to apply, standardized drawing note 47_18 must be ud:
- Customer delivery drawings:
The restricted substance information is only included in the customer delivery drawings if this is requested by the customer.
- Finished part and in-process drawings:
On all internal drawings the text can be ud, if required.
In the ca of order drawings to suppliers, the u of the text is mandatory.
Note: Where the information about restricted substances on the customer delivery drawings has been agreed, this information must also appear on the associated finished part and in-process drawi
ngs.
4.2 Information in other documents (e.g. delivery conditions)
In cas where there is no order drawing, the delivery conditions must contain a note about restricted substances acc. to S 132030-1; the text “Restricted Substances acc. to S 132030-1” must be ud for this purpo.
4.3 Application-specific prohibition of substances
If special, application-specific prohibited substances as per 3.4 are to be agreed for products, this must be explicitly indicated in the drawing or the delivery conditions. An indication on the drawing is preferred.

For the declaration of substances, a material data sheet as contained in the International Material Data System (IMDS, to be found at: ) is sufficient, provided that this data sheet has been prepared in accordance with the IMDS rules applicable at the moment its preparation (in particular GADSL).
Alternatively, the declaration can be made using the form sheet “Production Part Approval Process – Constituents of Purchad Parts“ (Appendix 5 of S 296001-2).
Prohibitions of substances can be restricted or lifted on an exceptional basis. Such exceptions must be stated in writing in the delivery agreements.
The acceptance of a data sheet in the IMDS does not constitute an exceptional approval of otherwi prohibited substances.
