Mary’s everyday lifeMary is my neighbour. She lives in Flat 5B, Block 9 of City Estate. She works as a nur in
a hospital. Her flat is very big. It has three bedrooms, two sitting rooms and two bathrooms. She drives her car to go to the hospital every day. Her job is to look after the sick children in hospital. She likes her job and she works hard. The children like her, too. But sometimes she is late for work, becau the road is often crowded with cars and bus and she can’t drive quickly. She usually finishes her work at 5 p.m. After work, she always goes shopping with her mum, and sometimes she plays cards with her friends.

Mae Jemison was born in America on October 17, 1956. She was the youngest of three children in the family. Mae Jemison always tried her best. She studied hard and became a doctor. Then she joined the Peace Corps and worked in Africa becau she enjoyed helping others.
Then she wanted to be an astronaut. Becau she had some training as a doctor and a scientist, she was chon from a group of about 2,000 people. Mae Jemison flew into orbit on the spaceship on September 12, 1992. She was the first African American woman astronaut.
