The headquarters for Shenzhen Rural Commercial Bank, a 33-story tower located on the edge of a public park in one of Shenzhen’s key business districts, responds to the region’s tropical climate through a ries of biophilic and sustainable design solutions.The design inspiration is drawn from natural systems and elements like water and wind. The influences are evident in the material and technical features of the building, such as the multistory water wall in the main lobby, the undulating striations of marble cladding the elevator core, and the integrated natural ventilation system that exchanges air in common areas and感恩老师的朗诵稿
offices. Automated louvers in the vertical atria traver the full height of the tower which, in
combination with motorized window vents on each office floor, allow the building to “breathe” in
mild asons.
轿车保养Building on SOM’s history of designing innovative structural engineering solutions, the design for
Shenzhen Rural Commercial Bank incorporates a tightly spaced diagrid that rves to enhance
both the building’s performance and occupants’ comfort. It provides solar shade, mitigating the

region’s hot tropical sun and reducing solar gain by approximately 34 percent and reducing glare
in the office interiors. The diagrid has a condary benefit in creating an entirely column-free
floor plan. This flexible interior is defined by a perimeter glass wall with automated solar control
blind to maintain optimal daylight levels, enabling maximum flexibility in the office layouts.
A glass and bronze-toned private banking pavilion adjacent to the tower’s main lobby
incorporates a high-performance double-skin facade. Reflecting pools, gray granite paving and
ating areas, and arrays of trees and groundcover plants highlight the main entrances while
gardens at the ba of the tower connect the building back to the adjacent public park that is the
centerpiece of the district master plan.
