Passage One
In a family where the roles of men and women are not sharply parated and where many houhold tasks are shared to a greater or lesr extent, notions of male superiority are hard to maintain. The pattern of sharing in tasks and in decision makes for equality and this in turn leads to further sharing. In such a home, the growing boy and girl learn to accept equality more easily than did their parents and to prepare more fully for participation in a world characterized by cooperation rather than by the "battle of the xes".爱情签名
If the process goes too far and man's role is regarded as less important — and that has hap
pened in some cas — we are as badly off as before, only in rever.
It is time to reasss the role of the man in the American family. We are getting a little tired of "Momism" — but we don't want to exchange it for a "neo-Popism". What we need, rather, is the recognition that bringing up children involves a partnership of equals. There are signs that psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and specialists on the family are becoming more aware of the part men play and that they have decided that women should not receive all the credit — nor the blame. We have almost given up saying that a woman's place is in the home. We are beginning, however, to analy man's place in the home and to insist that he does have a place in it. Nor is that place irrelevant to the healthy development of the child.

Passage Two
Most people sometimes feel lonely, but it usually only lasts between minutes and a few hours. This kind of loneliness is not rious. In fact, it is quite normal. For some people, though, loneliness can last for years. Now rearchers say there are three different types of loneliness.
The first kind of loneliness is temporary. This is the most common type.It usually disappears quickly and does not require any special attention. The cond kind, situational loneliness, is a natural result of a particular situation — for example, a family problem, the death of a loved one, or moving to new place. Although this kind of loneliness can cau physical problems, such as headaches and sleeplessness, it usually does not last for more than a year.
The third kind of loneliness is the most vere. Unlike the cond type, chronic (长期的,慢性的) loneliness usually lasts more than two years and has no specific cau. People who experience habitual loneliness have problem socializing and becoming clo to others. Unfortunately, many chronically lonely people think there is little or nothing they c
an do to improve their condition. Psychologists agree that one important factor in loneliness is a person's social contacts, e.g. friends, family members, coworkers, etc. We depend on various people for different reasons. For instance, our families give us emotional support, our parents and teachers give us guidance, and our friends share similar interests and activities with us. However, psychologists have found that, though lonely people may have many social contacts, they sometimes feel they should have more. They question their own popularity.
