【题型特点分析】
北约在自主招生英语试题中涉及英汉互译的内容，题型是单句和短文翻译为主。体裁涉及说明文，议论文，名人名言；内容通常与中国文化，时事热点有关；具体内容涉及政治，经济，科技，文化等多方面。这要求考生有广泛的知识，积累相关话题和词汇，关注国内外时事，了解中外文化差异。对于一般性的句子翻译，要尽量做到准确；段落翻译则除句子精准而外还需兼顾表达句之间的逻辑关系，尽量保持原文的结构和修辞。

一．汉译英中易犯的错误
1. 机械的直译及死译
1)在场的来宾中有一些外国记者。
The prent guests included a few foreign reporters. （错）
2)教授此刻正在实验室和他的两个助手一道做试验。

3)他胸有成竹地赴国外参加竞赛，最后获取了第一名。

2．主次颠倒

二．英译汉中易犯的错误
1. 英汉表达手段的重大差别
1)英语习惯用被动语态，而汉语习惯用主动语态。汉语句子时常没有主语，而英语句子除了个别情况（如祈使句、感叹句）以外，不能没有主语。所以在翻译时，一定要把握两种语言的不同表达习惯，既要忠实于原文，又要符合汉语的表达习惯。
例如：Something must be done to protect our environment from further pollution.
我们必须采取措施，使环境免受进一步污染。
2)英语习惯用从句（长句），而汉语习惯用单句（短句）。在考试中要善于运用拆译法，用汉语的短句来表达英语长句的内容。
月子里能吃韭菜吗
例如：In warmer areas primitive man could u branches to make a framework would be then covered with leaves.
在气候较为温暖的地方，原始人类能用树枝搭建屋架，外面用树叶遮盖。
3)英语习惯用名词表示行为动作，汉语则往往相反。
例如：He paid a visit to an exhibition of advanced science and technology on:
星期天他参观了一个有关先进科学技术的展览。
4)表达时间、空间时，英语习惯先水后大，汉语则往往相反。
例如：He was born in an out-of-way mountain village in South China at 2 a.m on May 6, 1968.广山
他于1968年五月六日凌晨两点出生于中国南部一个偏僻的小山村里。
2．未理解全文
词语的理解离不开上下文，英语中一词一义的情况极为罕见。通常英语单词或词组的意义丰富，只有通过上下文才能了解单词的确切含义。在翻译中，要特别注意以下三个问题：
1)认真把握多义词在语境中的特定含义。
例如：What you said sounds reasonable．你的话听起来有道理。
His father gave him a sound beating．他爸爸痛打他一顿。
2)注意习惯用语的理解。
英语历史悠久，拥有极为丰富的习语，对习语的掌握程度往往决定一个学习者的真实语言水平，因而，考试经常涉及这方面的内容。
例如：I know this fellow from A to z．这家伙我非常了解。
3)确定代词在上下文中的指代关系。
代词的理解更是离不开一定的语境。代词在句中指代的是什么只有在特定的语境中才能确定。对于代词的考查是英译汉常考内容。在翻译中，有时代词只是照字面译为“这、那”是远远不够的，须将代替的部分加以重述。
例如： A big nation had its problems, a small nation has its advantages.
大国有大国的问题，小国有小国的优势。

1．与其诅咒黑暗，不如点亮蜡烛。(better)
2．能源危机对全球经济有消极作用，导致经济衰退。(impact)
【答案】

【解析】
这两题考查的难度都不是很大，都为短语的运用，第一句考查短语“与其……不如……”（it' )。另外，虽然此句用到了暗喻，如黑暗和蜡烛，比喻那些社会的、人性的黑暗面和光明的一面，但在翻译中可直译，保留这种修辞方法。第2句考查短语“对……有消极作用”(have a negative impact on)。要求考试对于经济词汇有所了解。
如：I would rather die with my head high, with indestructible faith and profound belief in the destiny of our country, than live in humility and renounce the principles which are sacred to me.
