The Duanwu Festival , also called the Dragon Boat Festival, falls on the 5th day of the 5th month according to Chine lunar calendar. Many legends circulate around the festival but the most popular is the legend of Qu Yuan. Qu was a minister of the State of Chu during the Warring States Period .he was upright ,loyal and highly esteemed for his wi counl that brought peace and prosperity to the state. However ,the emperor gradually made Qu disappointed . He drowned himlf in the Miluo River on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month.
