1 offer 提议;提出
offer sth.意为“提供某物”
offer to do sth.意为“(主动)提出做某事”
offer sth to sb =offer sb sth 意为“给某人提供某物”。
Offer some coffee to the guests. 给客人们端些咖啡来。
Her brother offered to help her with her English.
她哥哥(主动)提出帮她学习英语。
The woman offered the poor girl hot water and food.

= The woman offered hot water and food to the poor girl.

2 how long多久;多长时间
常用“for+一时间段"来回答。
how long还可意为“多长“,用来询问物体的长度。
-How long may I keep the books?这些书我能保留多长时间?
-For two weeks.两个星期。

- About three hundred metres. 大约三百米(长)。
[注意]how long用来询问时间段时,句中的谓语动词必须是延续
性动词。

3 in the end 最后;终于
相当于finally或at last,通常位于句首或句尾,在句中作状语。
They reached the top of the mountain in the end.

at the end of..意为“在...的末尾/尽头”
后接的名词既可表示时间,也可表示地点。

4 hope 希望;盼望 常考
后可接动词不定式或that从句。hope to do sth.希望做某事
"hope + that 从句”意为“希望...,
I hope to e my friends as soon as possible.转字开头的成语
我希望尽可能快地见到我的朋友们。
The Smiths hope that they can come to visit Beijing some day.
史密斯夫妇希望有一天能来参观北京。
hope后不能接复合宾语,即hope sb. to do sth.是错的。

后面接可数名词的复数形式或复数代词的宾格形式。

如果名词前有形容词修饰,则用形容词的最高级形式。
当"one of(+形容词最高级)+名词复数”在句中作主语时,
其中心词为one ,故句子中的谓语动词要用第三人称单数形式。

2 show 作动词,意为“展示;显示"
常用结构 show sb.sth.或show sh. to sb.
意为“把某物给某人看”。
此外,show还可用作名词,意为“演出,表演;展览"
固定短语on show意为“陈列;展览"。
I showed my driving licen to the policeman.
= I showed the policeman my driving licen.
我向警察出示了我的驾驶执照。
All the items will be on show until the day of the sale.
所有物品都将陈列到出售的那天。
If you like the Beijing Opera,traditional music or magic
shows, you can enjoy them at the teahou.

4 if 如果;若
if作连词,常引导条件状语从句。一般情况下,if引导条件状语从句如果主句用了祈使句、一般将来时或主句中含有情态动词时,
则从句要用一般现在时表示将来的含义。
If my mother comes back, we will go to e you.
如果我妈妈回来,我们将会去看你。
[注意]if引导的条件状语从句可以放在主句之前,也可以放在主
句之后;如果放在主句之前,则要用逗号将其与主句隔开。

1 decide 决定;下决心
相当于make up one's mind。
常用短语decide to do sth.意为“决定做某事”
其否定形式是在to前加not,即decide not to do sth.
(决定不做某事)。
They decided to tell Tom about it.
他们决定把此事告诉汤姆。
I decided not to go on holiday in Europe.
我决定不去欧洲度假了。
