There was a young woman who took great pride in the flowers in her garden.She had been raid by her grandmother who taught her to love and care for flowers as she herlf had done.So, her flower garden was cond to none.Her neighbors showed great admiration for her handiness.
One day while looking through a flower catalogue,a picture of a 千言万语打一字谜plant immediately caught her eye.She had never en blooms on a flower like that before.“I have to have it,” she said to herlf,and she immediately ordered it.
When it arrived,she already had a place prepared to plant it.She planted it near the ba of a stone wall in her yard.It grew vigorously(茁壮地),with beautiful green leaves all over it,but there were no blooms.Part of it even extended to the backyard of her neighbor's through the wall.She thought her neighbor would complain about the vine(藤).Day after day she continued to take care of it,water it,feed it,and she even talked to it attempting to coax (哄) it to bloom.But,it was in vain.
One morning weeks later,as she stood before the vine,she thought how disappointed she was that her plant had not bloomed.She was giving considerable thought to cutting it down and planting something el in its place.
It was at this point that her neighbor called round.“Thank you so much! You can't imagine how much I have enjoyed the blooms of that vine you planted.” The young woman walked through the gate into her neighbor's yard.She was surprid.Led by her neighbor,she saw that on the other side of the wall the vine was covered with blooms.

Mrs_Thompson,an elementary teacher told the children a lie,as she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school.Like most teachers,she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same.But that was impossible,becau there was a little boy named Teddy,who didn't play well with the other children,who clothes were messy and who constantly needed a bath.And Teddy could be unpleasant.
At the school where Mrs Thompson taught,she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last.However,when she reviewed his file,she was in for a surpri.
Teddy's first grade teacher wrote,“Teddy is a bright_child with a ready laugh.He does his homework neatly and has he is a joy to be around.”
His cond grade teacher wrote,“Teddy is an excellent_student,well liked by his classmates,but he is troubled becau his mother has a terminal illness and his life at home must be a struggle.”
His third grade teacher wrote,“His mother's death has been hard on him.He tries to do his best but his father doesn't show much interest and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken.”
Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote,“Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school.He doesn't have many friends and sometimes sleeps in class.”
By now,Mrs Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herlf.She felt even wor when her students brought her Christmas prents,wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper,except for Teddy's.His prent was clumsily wrapped in the heavy,brown paper that he got from a grocery bag.
Mrs Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of the other prents.Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone (莱茵石,一种假钻石) bracelet with some of the stones missing and a bottle that was one quarter full of perfume. She stopped the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was,putting it on,and spraying some of the perfume on her wrist.
