1.Purpo and Significance of the Study
Nonverbal communication is an important part in communication. It is said that about 80% of human communication is nonverbal. In recent years, nonverbal communication is becoming more and more important in business negotiation, language teaching, cross-cultural communication, print media advertising, criminal investigation, and so on.
The thesis analys the nonverbal elements in TV programs give the audience a better understanding of nonverbal communication. By being familiar of the meaning of nonverbal communication, the readers can acquire the true thoughts of the others by their nonverbal behaviour. The thesis also want to enhance the multiple understanding of
different personalities, whether in education, transportation,business or investigation.
2.Literature Review
Previous Studies on Nonverbal Communication
Scientific rearch on nonverbal communication and behavior was started in 1872 with the publication of Charles Darwin’s book 音乐微课The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals.

In recent years, there are a lot of detective TV programs produced, which including large amount of nonverbal elements in solving crime cas.
Every Move You Make is a 2010 Hong Kong police procedural television rial drama produced by TVB. The 20-episode drama originally aired five days a week, running from 4 to 29 October 2010 on theTVB Jade channel. Julius Fast in his book Body Language gives the following definition,“Body language can include any non-reflexive and reflexive movement of a part or all of the body, ud by a person to communicate an emotional message to the outside world”Fast defines body language in a broad n. American anthropologist, Edward T. Hall did a lot of work on nonverbal communication. In conclusion, it is an important skill in a lot of fields to master the esnce of nonverbal analysis. In this thesis, by calculation and analysis of nonverbal data in the TV programs of Lie to Me and Every Move You Make, the author try to summarize the normal rules of emotion expresd by nonverbal ways and offer some suggestions to help people in normal life and ordinary work.
