1. Forms of English letters
1) The blocked form平头式
(The full-blocked form and the modified blocked form).
The former has all the letters element’s flush against the left-hand margin, and the first line of each paragraph is not dented. The latter is the same as the former with three exceptions: the heading(信头), the complimentary clo(结束语) and the signature(签名)are placed on the right side of the page.

Each line in the heading and the inside address (信内地址)indented 2 to 3 letters. Besides, the beginning of each paragraph is indented 5 letters.

3. Parts of English letters
1)The heading (发信日期及写信人地址)
1. Two parts: address of the writer and date
2. Location: in the top right-hand corner
3. Punctuation: It may or may not have end punctuation: clod punctuation and open punctuation.
4. Arrangement:
first line: the hou number, the name of the street or road
cond line: the name of the town or city
third line: the name of the state or province, the postal code
fourth line: the name of the country
last line: the date :American: January 15, 1997 / January 15th, 1997
English:15 January, 1997 / 15th January, 1997
2)The inside address (收信人姓名职称机构及地址)
Mr.-ud before men in general
学习寿司制作Mrs.- ud before married women
Miss- ud before unmarried women
Ms.- ud before a female of uncertain marital status
Dr.- ud before a doctor or a person with a Ph.D. degree
Prof.- ud before a professor
Pres.- ud before the president of a bank, a company, an university or a country
Rev. or Father (Reverend)- ud before a priest
Hon.- ud before an important government official
The Manager or The Director- ud before an institution
3)The salutation (称呼)
Double space below the inside address, flush with the left-hand margin.
Always followed by a colon(:), may be also by a comma(,) in informal or personal letters.
For example,’ Dear Mr.______’ or ‘Dear Ms.______’
4)The body (本文)
A double space is ud between the salutation and the first paragraph and between all the paragraphs in the body.
Usually it includes, firstly, the purpo of writing (immediately made clear in the first paragraph of the letter, such as ‘I am writing to……). Also, the supporting facts and the expected respon.
5)The complimentary clo (结束语)
Double-spaced below the body of the letter
Its wording varies according to the type of the letter and the degree of intimacy with the person addresd.
