And being overweight and physically inactive accounted for more than 300,000 premature deaths nationally—cond only to tobacco-related deaths. But what do you know about obesity? How is it defined? Host: So what has changed in the last decade? For one thing, we are eating more. Portion sizes have gotten out of control.
Stern: And now my son tells me that I can go to 7-11 and get the extreme super-duper gulp for 74 oz. You know, that's almost six 12-ounce cans of coke, well over 700 calories.
Man: Yeah, can I have a number 7? Can I go big on that or extra size with a Sprite?
Host: In 1990, McDonald's super size of fries was 540 calories. Today that's a "large" and the "super" is now a whopping 610 calories. Just remember that for every extra 3,500 calories you consume, you gain a pound of fat, which leads us to the other reason Americans are becoming more obe.
Stern: We exerci less. We're pretty dentary as a nation. And in fact, there are lots of things designed to keep us inactive.
Host: Things like elevators, escalators, and the biggest one—our cars !
Stern: I think we have to figure out how we're going to redesign our environment. We really have to do that. We have to be promoting physical activity.
Host:That would be good sta蜜蜂教学设计rt. A recent study found that 91 percent of people who lost weight and kept it off exercid regularly—at least an hour a day most days of the week.
Stern: On most days of the week, you want to try and walk at least 30 minutes a day, and aim for an hour, if you really want to keep that weight off.

Stern:Most people want to lo weight to look better, but in fact, we should want to lo weight to improve our health.
