＊對等連接詞的作用是連接文法作用相同的單字、片語或子句。也可連接單字或片語、片語或子句、或單字或子句，但文法作用必須相同。如：
Can we have dinner now or when Father comes back? 連接單字和子句，但皆作副詞
洗衣机清理＊對等連接詞連接兩個子句時，前面通常加上逗點。
＊依照功用可分為：
累進型：and , both…and… , not only…but also… , as well as , neither…nor…
反義型：but ,
選擇型：or , either…or… ,
推理型：so ,
解釋型：for ,
＊作「和；且；而」解釋

＊and連接兩句子時，後面的句子通常出現含有too/either的簡答句，

＊and連接兩物品而被視為一物，或同一人有兩種身分時，第二個名詞不加冠詞，做主詞時用單數動詞

＊「既…又…；兩者都…」有強調兩者的語氣

＊「既不…也不…」「兩個都不…」
He is neither tall nor handsome. (他既不高也不英俊)
He can neither read nor write. (他既不會讀也不會寫)=He can’t read or write.

＊連接兩個主詞時，動詞以第二個主詞決定
