On Miriam Gardsbane’s 9th birthday two years ago, her aunt gave money to a group that cares for elephants. The woman, who lives in Kenya, told the group she was giving the money to celebrate Miriam’s birthday. Soon Miriam and her mother visited Kenya to learn how that money was helping to support elephants. After she arrived, Miriam fell in love with the animals.
A few months after visiting Africa, Miriam watched How I Became an Elephant, a documentary about the mistreatment of elephants in Thailand. Miriam couldn’t calm down when she thought that some people were killing the elephants and that the number of them was becoming fewer and fewer. Then she decided to try her best to rai money to save elephants.
Last year, Miriam created a group called They Derve To Be Free after eing a program that showed young elephants being mistreated in Thailand. She asked her art teacher to help her make clay elephants and made signs about elephant mistreatment.黑米饼
