This standard differs from the September 1987 edition as follows:a)the material designations have been updated;b)safety factors have been modified;
c)the wall thickness specifications have been amended to conform to ISO 4065 (cf. table 2);d)pipe dimensions are no longer specified on the basis of nominal pressure (PN);e)tolerances on circularity (ovality) have been included;
f)rvice life is now assumed to be 100 years (at temperatures up to 20°C)Previous editions

1Scope
This standard specifies dimensions and tolerances for polyethylene pipes made from type PE 63, PE 80, PE 100and PE-HD polyethylene, as in DIN 8075.

3.1
Pipe ries
A dimensionless number related to the nominal outside diameter of a pipe and its wall thickness (des
ignated by S ). On the basis of this number, the wall thickness, s , is to be calculated as follows:s =

3.2Standard dimension ratio
The ratio of the outside diameter of a pipe to its wall thickness, calculated as follows:SDR =2S +1R

where S  is to be taken from table 2.
4Material designation
The material designations are bad on the minimum required strength, MRS  (i.e. the resistance to internal hydrostatic pressure) in water at 20°C for 50 years, as specified in DIN EN ISO 12162 (with the exception of pipes made from PE-HD).

5Safety factors
Safety factors shall be as specified in the appropriate product standards. According to DIN EN ISO 12162, the minimum safety factor for polyethylene pipes is 1,25. Values for the allowable working pressures are given in tables 5 to 13, on the basis of safety factors 1,25, 1,6 and 2,0.
