Gone with the cheers
“Come on!! Cha her!! You can do it!” The inflammatory sound of cheers keeps ringing in my head, but the cheers of encouragement become softer and softer. This was my first Sports Meeting in my middle school. It was hosted on Sept. 20th; just a few days later thanthe new mesterhad begun. As a freshman, everything was new to me. I found it strangethat I couldn’t rush in the hallways any more.I oftenwas lost in the campus and could not find the way to thedormitory. I had never tried tho wired food before I came here.
Most of the time, you could e me sitting on that cold but smooth chair, staring at a small black fly rushing around the whitest wall. It flew without knowing direction, without rhyme or reason. So abrupt, isn’t it?
I wasn’t adaptable at all, never. Being pulled apart from my old friends made me feel sad. When I laid stiffly on my stiff wood bed, I was lonely and isolated.
A few days later, my advisor had a riousconversation with me. He said he was aware that I was too solitary to make friends. “You should be outgoing and be open. Do you want to be alone all the time?” I nodded subconsciously, suddenly I realized something, and shook my head abruptly.
Through that conversation, my advisor knew that I was good at running, and I had won many prizes. So I became a part of the sports team.
I sat alone on the bench of the playground, gazing at the blurry figures. Cheers and laughter filled the entire space. A pleasant smell was coming, accompanied by the gentle
breeze. Three girlsappeared. They stared at me with curiousness. “I am Xia Xia, call me Summer. I have been noticing you for a while. You are so quiet. What is your name?” That girl with short black hair asked, mouth slightly up.
I began to talk with them. After introductions, I knew they were the members of the sports team just like me, and we were going to participate in a relay race game. “ From now on, we are partners! ”The other girl patted me on the shoulder. She was short but athletic. “Yeah! Our team will be the best! Just wait! LOSERS!”The girl with the blue hair band cheered. She pod like a gunner holding a gun, strafed in the air. We looked at each other andlaughed out loud.
Under the clear blue sky, we ran with abandon. They held my hand, sang songs without tune, waved arms together and going around in circles. Sunshine was floating on our faces brightly. From that moment on, we were connected.
We started hanging out together. Telling jokes, gossiping and making fun of each other. I was no longer alone. We practiced everyday. Ran around the playground over and over a
gain. We always stuck it out until we were out of breath and our legs hardly moved. Our shirts got wet, with uncountable beads of sweat that dropped from our forehead. Exhausted but happy, we did everything we could do to improveour running skills. Becau we were going to join the
relay race, the heart connections were very important. We did pass- and receive
combinations of thousands time, to ensure we could save time on it and pass the relay baton accurately. We tried to increa our awareness so we could predict each other’s every move between the team.
The big day came. It was a little chilly in the morning. Sunshine was so soft, been blew away of the stronger wind. We were standing on the race, with calm and aplomb. I was the anchor leg, which got a lot of pressure: No matter how fast the other teams are, I was suppod to, should to cha them.
With the red smog appeared on the screen, a transient gunshot made everyone bleed out.
Like the moment was frozen. I stood in that, waiting for my girls. More and more near, almost here! We were the cond one. Summer looked fierce in the high speed. When she handed the baton on my hand, I rushed out like a narrow. I got to win! I told mylf. The wind blows hard near my ear, making a roaring noi.Another girl chad up me. She accelerated. The cheers were rolling. I cannot let others down! I cannot be behind! I waved my arms faster like a super machine, so as my legs. The only thing that I could e was theribbon in the finishing line.
Only 50 meters left! I exhaust all my strength to run faster. And the cheers surrounded me, loud but hopeful. I clod my eyes and let mylf bump ahead. Nearer!Almost there! I tried best to step farther and father. At that moment, like the whole world has been frozen, I felt I touched a ribbon. We won The other three girls rushed to me, hold each other tightly. We go around and around, high five and jumped. The auditorium had boiled, too. Cheers and laughterstayed a very long time. Finally, racking with the wind and lightening and disappeared.
