材料选择与处理
1.叶子。一般以常绿木本植物为好。如桂花叶、石楠叶、木瓜叶、桉枝叶、茶树叶、玉兰叶等。
2.氢氧化叶脉书签(8张)钠。
3.无水碳酸钠。
4.烧杯。
5.铁架台。

所选的用作书签的叶子要符合两大要求：
1、叶脉为网状脉。横向脉如银杏树叶、针形叶如松针均不可取。
2、叶脉清晰、完整，这样才能确保叶脉不会与叶肉一起被腐蚀烂，也减少去除叶肉时叶脉被刷断的发生率。
制作方法
一、快速制作方法
1.选择叶片。 选择叶脉粗壮而密的树叶。在叶片充分成熟并开始老化的夏末或秋季选叶制作。
2.用10%的氢氧化钠溶液煮叶片。在不锈钢锅或铁锅内将配好的碱液煮沸后放入洗净的叶子适量，煮沸，这时常用玻棒或镊子轻轻翻动，防止叶片叠压，使其均匀受热。（应卡窗通风，因为煮叶片时有臭味）
3.煮沸5分钟左右，待叶子变黑后，捞取一片叶子，放入盛有清水的塑料盆中。小心翼翼的用清水洗净。（注意：该操作取放叶子一定不要用手直接取放，防止氢氧化钠腐蚀手面。用镊子或夹子取放。）
4.当叶片上残留碱液漂洗干净后取出，把叶片平铺在一块玻璃上，用小试管刷或毛质柔软的旧牙刷轻轻顺着叶脉的方向刷掉叶片两面已烂的叶肉，一边刷一边常用小流量的自来水冲洗，直到只留下叶脉。
5.将叶脉放入双氧水中浸泡24小时，以达到漂白效果。
6.刷净的叶脉片，漂洗后放在玻璃片上晾干。当晾到半干半湿状时涂上所需的各种染料，然后夹在旧书报纸中，吸干水分后取出，即可成为叶脉书签使用。干燥后用红、蓝墨水或其它染色剂染成你所喜爱的颜色，再在叶柄上系一根彩色丝绸带，便制得一片叶脉清晰、色质艳丽、美观实用的叶脉书签。.
二、水泡法
如果没有上述药品或者道具，可采用最简单的水泡法。方法很简单，就是将树叶用水泡上一周到两周时间，使其自然腐烂，然后用废弃的牙刷顺着叶脉的方向刷干净腐烂的叶肉，即可制成精美的叶脉书签。如果想加快速度，可在水中加入一些碱性的洗浴用品（貌似浸泡期间需保持适宜的温度，以便细菌繁殖。尽量避免炎热的天气，反正天气太热，我就没有浸泡成功过。）。将做好的叶脉书签染上颜色，再拿到相馆过塑，也会使书签变得更加精美，也适合用作书签，更适合赠给亲人朋友，礼虽小但也极招人喜爱.
