Hello， Everybody.

my hometown is lhasa, the largest city on the roof of the

world. it is the heart and soul of tibet. i think lhasa is one of the

most beautiful cities in the world. it is surrounded by towering

mountains and rarely a day goes by when you don’ t e the

deep blue sky. lhasa river is flowing quietly around the city.

lhasa is the mixture of tradition and fashion.

firstly, lhasa has a long history. it is the political, cultural and

economic center of tibet. it has lots of famous sights to offer. the

potala palace is the most famous, a magnificent and wonderful

place to look at. in my opinion it is a unique artistic achievement

of the tibetan people. likewi, the architecture, carvings and

paintings throughout the city show hard work, wisdom and

bravery of our people.

condly, led by the reforming and opening policy of china,

lhasa has changed a lot. many new things have arrived up here,

changing the face of the city. the old and new lie side by side in

lhasa.

many new buildings, schools and roads have been built here.

furthermore, the qing—zang railway leading to lhasa is being

built. many shopping centers have been opened, and modern

technology like telecommunications is spreading. the whole city

looks prosperous, and our tibetan people take on a new look.

every festival, people walk around freely on the new, wide and

smooth streets, wearing the beautiful traditional costumes.

right now, i am looking forward to a festival called shodün

which comes in june for eating yoghurt. at this time, all my family

and i gather for a picnic together at the norbulinka, a famous

garden. in the garden, we sing tibetan songs, dance “guo

zhuang” on the grass; eat zanba, drink butter tea and barley

beer on the beautiful carpet as well. we enjoy our life. i think that

this festival exhibits the open-minded and optimistic character of

the tibetan people.

finally, “i love my hometown. i love the people in my

hometown.”

hometown.

My hometown is a beautiful place. It has a beautiful name -

Wansheng. There is a 5A level scenic spot – the Black Valley. It

looks like a fairyland. There are many hills. They are covered by

many green trees and beautiful flowers . Wan Sheng Stone Forest

is also very famous in China. There are a lot of strange stones.

They look like tiger, monkey, dog, man and woman.

There is a tall stone like the spring bamboo. Many people

come here to visit the Black Valley and Wan Sheng stone forest

every year . Wansheng is the home of the badminton world

champion- Zhang yawen. There are a lot of delicious food .

People here are very friendly. I love my beautiful hometown

Wansheng . Welcome to Wansheng.

built our friendship during the junior school. although we are

parated now, i believe we'll never forget.

skin , big bright eye and long curly black hair. we have to admit

totally belonging to cool-steady ,besides modest, cooperative,

patient and sociable,she is also independent and very ambitious.

do you believe that ,it's ture. for instants, she can get along well

with all kinds of people even tho who can always make you

crazy . she can quickly adapt herllf to the new enviroment and

if she can do something on her own,she won't trouble others.

what's more she always consider about others'feeling.i think

that's her valuable quality, becau in now days,more and more

peolple are just concernd with themlves. she has a variety of

interests. she is good at playing paino and has pasd also like singing dancing and doing sports sometimes,

i often wonder that i'm such an ordinanry girl , how can i obtian

such an excellent friend. looking back to the time we spent

together ,she has helped me with my studies, encouraged me

when i felt upt .and she always stood by my side and helped

me to overcome the obstacles. we made joks and laughed all the

time .may be the most important reason why we could become

clo friends is that: we like each other, we appeal to each other .i

think she is so excllent girl meanwhile she think me is a lovely girl.

we are familiar to each other, except some of her good

qualities which i don't own .we are both houmous and like to tell

funny stories. we like the same kinds of moives and food. we wear

the same style clothes and we also have same view about the

things and we understand each other. in a word. it is the most the

lucky thing in my life to have such a good friend. i'll try my best

to keep our friendship forever.

it’s my greatpleasure to stand here to prent my speech—change the world, change ourlves.

it’s noticable that western holidays are becoming

increasingly popular day by day, while chine traditional

festivals are being somewhat neglected. not long before about

10 doctors in beijing university and qinghua unversity

announced that we should reject the invasion of western

holidays ,becau they regard western holidays as an challenge

against our traditional festivals and culture.

frankly speaking, i don’t quite agree with , we

should never neglect or even discard our traditonal festivals as

china boasts a brilliant history and splendid traditions.

(examples).but why can’t we absorb the meaningful western

holidays and culture.

there are obvious reasons why some western holidays are so

popular in china. on the one hand, some of the western holidays

which we chine don’t have are reasonable and meaningful,

such as father’s day and april fool’s day etc. on the other

hand,the prevalence of globalization enables western culture to

prevail in china. overwhelmed by such a trend,chine

unconsiciously get involved in western holidays and culture.

with the further development of the whole world, the cultural

communication between different countries and nations

becomes faster and more and more important. we are indeed

from different nations, but we are the citizens of the same world,

so the outstanding culture of different nations is the commom

wealth of everyone on the only way for us to protect

our traditional culture is to reject the foreign culture? the answer

is definitely no. what we ought to do is to spare no effort to

educate chine to get to know and treasure our splendid

traditions instead of rejecting foreign culture. only by educating

can we t our confidence and belief towards our culture. only by

educating can we prerve and promote the wealth that our

ancesters left for us.

at last i’d like to share a famou saying of gandhi with all

of you ,that is:if you want to change the world, then you must

change yourlf first.”
