Demeter is the only ecological association that has built up a network of individual certification organisations world-wide. In 1997 Demeter-International was founded for clor co-operation in the legal, economic and cultural spheres. Prently Demeter International has 16 member organisations from Europe, America, Africa and New Zealand. Thus
Demeter-International reprents more than 4.200 Demeter producers in 43 countries.

Special features of farming under the Demeter standards

The most important prerequisite for conversion is an active interest in the laws of nature and the will to work with them creatively in your daily activities. It is also important that you are open to a holistic view of the natural world, which goes beyond the knowledge gained purely from natural science. The sun, moon and stars, or the Biodynamic preparations are not the only influences to be considered. Working with the Biodynamic method will result in new experiences arising from interactions with the plant and animal kingdoms.

Soil fertility and life process can be strengthened and harmonid through the u of special preparations made from yarrow, dandelion, camomile, stinging nettle, oak bark, and valerian in compost process as well as the preparations for spraying made of cow manure and finely ground quartz. This allows lf-regulation of the forces active in nature, and produces a distinctive quality.

Before you apply to have your enterpri inspected for Demeter certification, check to e if the most important prerequisites listed below are already being met, or could be fulfilled in the future:

∙Conversion of the entire farm (incl. condary crops, animal husbandry, areas producing products for home consumption, etc.)

Important steps on the way to Demeter certification
达到德米特认证的重要步骤
1. The enterpri, converting to Demeter, completes a Farm Questionnaire and returns it by e-Mail to Demeter
International e.V.

2. Demeter International checks the supplied information so as to pick up any discrepancies at this stage.

3. A conversion contract is signed between the enterpri and Demeter International in which the manager is
obliged to farm the enterpri to the Demeter standards from this point in time on. Also from this time at the latest, all u of the biodynamic preparations needs to be documented.

4. The manager of the enterpri attends an introductory cour in Biodynamic agriculture.

6. The inspection takes place annually, carried out by an independent, qualified inspector from an accredited
inspection agency. As well as checking that the enterpri conforms to the EU regulation for Organic Agriculture (or other comparative relevant standard), the additional requirements to meet the Demeter standards are
inspected. The converting enterpri contacts an inspection agency , which is authorid by Demeter
International to do Demeter inspections, and enquires about the cost of inspections.
