How do animals and people feel cold? Scientists know that the nerves(神经)in our skin(皮肤) help us feel cold. But they didn’t know how this works until now. A new study says that a kind of protein(蛋白质) within our nerves does the job. It can feel the weather change and then nd in formation to the brain.
Do you often lo your hair? Maybe you should eat some kimchi(泡菜). South Korean scientists have found that a kimchi drink can help people keep their hair and grow new hair within weeks. They found this after doing an experiment(实验)with 23 men who were losing their hair. Kimchi is rich in probiotics(益生菌), which are good for hair growth.
We all know air pollution (污染) is bad for our health. But It is also bad for us in other ways, US scientists have found that air pollution may cau more violent crime(暴力犯罪). How do people find their inner talent(潜力)? British writer and speaker Sir Kenneth Robinson talked about this at TED. He told the story of Gillian Lynne, a dancer and a choreographer(编舞者) who has worked on many famous musicals(音乐剧).
Gillian Lynne never did well in school as a child. She couldn't sit for long and often found herlf mov
ing restlessly(不安地). Her mother was quite worried about her. She took Lynne to a doctor. For twenty minutes, she talked about the problems Lynne was having in school. Then, the doctor said to Lynne, “I need to speak to your mother first. Wait here.”
As they left the room, the doctor turned on the radio. He then said to Lynne's mother, Just stand and watch her. The minute they left the room, Lynne was on her feet, dancing to the music on the radio.
The doctor then tuned to Lynne's mother and said, “Mrs. Lynne, your daughter isn't ill. She's a dancer. Take her to a dance school.”

For the first time in history, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has chon two host cities at the same time. Paris will host the Olympic Games in 2024 and Los Angeles in 2028.
“This is a win-win-win situation for Paris, Los Angeles and the IOC,” said IOC President Thomas Bach. “The are two great cities from two great countries with a great Olympic history.”
Both cities are excited about bringing home the Games. It returns to the US for the first time since th
e 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
For Paris, the wait has been longer. As the city has hosted two Olympics before, it will host the event 100 years after its last Games in 1924. It also means Paris will become the cond city to hold three Summer Olympic Games, after London and before Los Angeles.
However, the reason for the decision is that there were no other competitors for either the 2024 or 2028 Games, noted the BBC.
In July, three of the five cities bidding for(申办) the 2024 Olympics quit becau of being worried over the cost. They were Hamburg, Rome and Budapest.
But it ems Paris and Los Angeles have less trouble with that. The cities already have more than 90 percent of the facilities(设施) for the Games, which will cut the cost.
